Monaco Is Facing Labor Shortages and Is Opening Job Vacancies for Foreigners! Find Out How to Live and Work in Europe.

Monaco, one of Europe’s most iconic destinations, is known for its wealth and glamour. However, behind its luxurious image, there is a growing need for labor. The Principality of Monaco is facing a labor shortage, yet offers various job vacancies for foreign workers. In 2023, Monaco had approximately 71,314 job vacancies available, including over 65,000 salaried positions and around 6,200 self-employed workers.

Labor Shortage in Monaco

Recently, a study conducted by the Monaco Statistics and Economic Studies Institute revealed that the number of jobs in Monaco grew by 24.6% between 2013 and 2022, resulting in an increase of 14,000 job vacancies.

This research considered workers from different sectors, both public and private, including temporary and remote positions.

The majority of jobs are offered by the private sector, which employs 92% of the workforce in Monaco.

The sectors that offer the most job vacancies in Monaco include tourism, finance, insurance, and technology.

However, it is important to note that Monaco heavily relies on its neighbors to meet its labor demand, creating a shortage of local workers.

Job Vacancies for Foreigners

For those who wish to work in Monaco, job vacancies are promising.

Only 2% of jobs in Monaco are occupied by Monegasque citizens, allowing many foreigners to enter the local job market.

However, due to the labor shortage, preference is still given to Monegasques and residents of neighboring countries.

The most common job vacancies in Monaco for foreign workers include positions such as customer support representative, IT support technician, customer service specialist, business development manager, administrative assistant, and HR coordinator.

Those interested in finding job vacancies can explore online platforms like Job Monaco, or send resumes directly to companies and hotels.

The Monte-Carlo SBM Group is one of the largest employers in the region, with over 3,000 employees and several job vacancies available.

Work Authorization Process

To take advantage of the labor shortage situation and work in Monaco, it is necessary to obtain a work authorization. Foreigners cannot be hired without the proper visa.

The first step is to obtain a job offer, after which the company must request approval to hire foreign labor.

This ensures that Monegasque citizens have priority in hiring.

The work authorization process involves several steps. The worker must have a valid Monaco residence card or a French identity document.

For those who do not reside in Monaco or France, it is essential to resolve the visa issue before applying for work authorization.

Exchange programs and specialized training courses are being implemented to prepare foreign candidates, thereby increasing their chances of securing job vacancies.

With this strategy, Monaco not only addresses the labor shortage but also enriches its market with qualified professionals, contributing to the economic development of the Principality.

Additionally, the high demand for labor in Monaco is creating a favorable environment for partnerships between companies and educational institutions.
