Água Branca Station Surpasses 90 Percent of Work, Prepares Integration with Three Lines, and Should Reduce Travel Time from 1h30 to Just 23 Minutes by 2026
The construction of Água Branca Station has surpassed 90.7% completion and is set to be one of the first structures of the Orange Line 6 expected to start operation in 2026.
The project aims to expand high-capacity transport and strengthen integration between the North, West, and Central zones of the capital.
Planned Deliveries and Network Expansion
The initial stretch between Brasilândia and Perdizes is scheduled for delivery next year. The following segment, linking Perdizes to São Joaquim, is still expected to be completed by 2027.

China modernizes the oldest metro line in Mexico City, taking on the renovation of 18.83 km, 20 stations, new trains, signaling, and maintenance for 19 years in one of the most crowded systems in Latin America.

Five cities in the North of Santa Catarina may once again be connected by passenger train after 35 years, in an effort that brings together municipal associations, the Joinville Chamber, and CIMU to reactivate the EF-485 and reduce the number of cars on the BR-280 and BR-116 highways.
With the line fully operational, there will be direct connections to Lines 1-Blue, 4-Yellow, and 7-Ruby, reducing commuting time and enhancing integration between city regions.
Line 6-Orange will be 15.3 km long. The route, which currently takes up to 1h30 by bus, will be completed in about 23 minutes.
The estimated demand exceeds 633,000 passengers per day, benefiting especially students and workers who travel to the universities served by the route.
Station Structure and Depth
Constructed at a depth of 48 meters, Água Branca Station will feature two accesses from Avenida Santa Marina. The proposal ensures better flow distribution and total accessibility for passengers, aligning with the operational characteristics of future stations on the line.
This initiative is part of a Public-Private Partnership between the State Government and the concessionaire Linha Uni.
The execution is carried out by Acciona, under the coordination of the Secretary of Investments Partnerships, responsible for overseeing concession and PPP projects in the state.
Trains Manufactured in Taubaté
The trains of Line 6-Orange are produced in Taubaté, in the interior of São Paulo, and use stainless steel to ensure a lifespan of over 40 years. The lightweight compositions contribute to greater energy efficiency and sustainable operation.
The onboard technology will allow for operation without a conductor, with a maximum speed of 90 km/h.
There will be a total of 22 compositions, each with six cars, capable of transporting up to 2,044 passengers between Brasilândia and São Joaquim. The expected ridership exceeds 630,000 users per day, reinforcing the importance of the new line in enhancing mobility.
Accessibility and Mobility Equipment
Line 6-Orange will feature more than 400 accessibility devices, including elevators and escalators. The devices have been designed to support the heavy flow of passengers and the different elevation levels between stations.
Depths vary according to the design of each point: Brasilândia has 28 meters, Freguesia do Ó reaches 39 meters, Santa Marina reaches 30 meters, and Água Branca reaches 48 meters.
These characteristics ensure proper circulation and safety for users, keeping pace with the growth of the network and the modernization of transport solutions in the city of São Paulo.
