Projects Total 34 MWp of Power to Meet 100% of Swift’s Electricity Consumption
The stores of the Swift brand, from the multinational JBS, will have their energy demand fully met through a million-dollar project with Âmbar, from the J&F group. R$ 150 million will be invested in solar power plants, marking a realignment of the growth strategy toward energy solutions for Âmbar’s clients.

Primarily located in the Southeast region, the projects total 34 megawatts peak (MWp) of power and are expected to ensure that 100% of Swift’s electricity consumption is supplied by a renewable source.
Âmbar works with power plants in a “solar farm” model, where the installation of photovoltaic panels takes place on the rooftops of stores or nearby units, being small scale and distributed generation.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
The company has already initiated the project – about 1 MWp is in operation. The expectation is that all plants will be operational by the second half of 2023.
JBS Commitment
JBS is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 and, therefore, has partnered with Âmbar on this project. Currently, 80% of the energy used by JBS already comes from renewable sources, and the goal is for this number to reach 100% clean energy consumption.
The strategic repositioning of Âmbar toward renewable energy generation was marked by the plan designed for Swift, initiating a new phase for the company as a provider of energy solutions to clients.
The company is widely known as an investor in electric power infrastructure assets. In the transmission sector, the company has lines and substations in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás, and the Federal District.
In terms of generation, it owns a thermal power plant with an installed capacity of 480 megawatts (MW) in Cuiabá (MT), connected to a set of pipelines that transport natural gas from Chiquitos, Bolivia.
In June 2021, Âmbar completed the purchase of the Uruguaiana thermal power plant (RS), which was operated by AES Brasil for many years. With a capacity of 640 MW, Uruguaiana had been almost entirely deactivated since 2009 but resumed operations in February with the restoration of gas supply.
Projects Aimed at Cleaning the Energy Matrix
Âmbar intends not only to offer the installation of renewable plants but also to present a project capable of “cleaning” the entire energy matrix of contractors as a way to diversify its portfolio.
Among the options available in this portfolio are distributed solar generation plants, energy purchase in the free contracting environment (ACL), energy efficiency projects, and the supply of I-RECs, renewable energy certificates.
In addition to solar energy projects, Âmbar is also investing in other sectors of renewable energy. The company has signed a contract with Neoenergia that provides for the supply, starting in 2023, of 30 MW of wind energy. Âmbar’s intention is not to limit itself to J&F, also serving the external market.
