Korbein Schultz Sent More Than 90 Confidential Documents in Exchange for US$ 42 Thousand and Is Now Serving Sentence in the United States.
A former U.S. Army intelligence analyst was sentenced to seven years in prison for selling confidential information to a contact in China. The announcement was made by the U.S. Department of Justice on Wednesday.
Sale of Confidential Documents
Korbein Schultz, 25, a native of Wills Point, Texas, admitted in August 2024 to conspiring to collect and transmit national defense information.
He also pleaded guilty to illegally exporting controlled information and accepting bribes in exchange for confidential and non public documents from the U.S. government.

Schultz partnered with an individual identified only as “Co-Conspirator A”, allegedly residing in Hong Kong. Between May 2022 and March 2024, Schultz sent at least 92 classified military documents in exchange for about US$ 42,000.
Focus on Taiwan and Ukraine
The “Co-Conspirator A” claimed to be a client of a geopolitical consulting firm and requested detailed analyses from Schultz on U.S. military capabilities. The requests included information on military planning related to Taiwan and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Additionally, Schultz provided documents on U.S. military exercises in the Republic of Korea and the Philippines, as well as data on U.S. satellites and missile defense systems.
FBI Warning
FBI Director Kash Patel commented on the sentencing. “This sentence is a severe warning to those who betray our country: you will pay a high price for this,” he stated. Patel also emphasized that China remains committed to stealing national defense information from the United States, considering the military one of its main targets.
