With leadership in cleaning robots, industrial advancement, and growth in smart models, China expands global presence in cutting-edge technology
China’s robot exports approached 20 billion yuan, about US$ 2.98 billion, between January and May this year, showcasing the international strength of the Chinese high-tech industry.
According to the Global Times, based on customs data and a report from the China Media Group, the country exported 10.377 million robots of different categories in the first five months of the year.
The equipment was sent to more than 150 countries and regions, with emphasis on the European Union and ASEAN countries, which are among the main destinations.

Cleaning robots drive growth of Chinese exports
The main highlight was the cleaning robots, which accounted for 14 billion yuan in exports, more than 70% of the total recorded in the period.
The strength of this segment is linked to the advancement of technologies such as autonomous navigation, automatic dust collection, and intelligent wastewater recycling.
These solutions make Chinese equipment adaptable to different types of homes abroad. Therefore, they enhance the competitiveness of the country’s companies.
Furthermore, the combination of price, embedded technology, and large-scale production has allowed Chinese manufacturers to occupy markets previously dominated by traditional brands.
Industrial sector also expands presence outside China
In the industrial sector, China exported about 70 thousand robots between January and May.
These devices have been used in infrastructure works, transportation projects, light manufacturing, and automated production lines.
Handling robots equipped with visual recognition and smart algorithms are already used in large projects outside China.
Meanwhile, welding robots feature automatic scanning and modeling. Thus, they can calculate, in real-time, the best processing parameters.
Collaborative, bionic, and humanoid robots gain ground
Another expanding segment is collaborative robots, increasingly used in food processing, the pharmaceutical industry, and the manufacture of everyday chemical products.
These machines work alongside human employees. In this way, they help increase efficiency and safety on production lines.
In technological frontier areas, exports of intelligent bionic robots exceeded 8,000 units.
These products are applied in equipment inspection, scientific research, education, and public services.
Integrated industrial chain supports China’s global advancement
The external advancement of Chinese robotics is supported by a highly integrated domestic chain.
This structure brings together research, production, components, software, and commercial scale within the same ecosystem.
According to a report released by the National Data Administration on June 8, Chinese exports of industrial robots grew 48.7% in 2025.
For the first time, China exported more industrial robots than it imported, becoming a net exporter in this segment.
The same survey indicates that, in 2025, the country had more than 140 complete robot manufacturers and more than 330 humanoid robot products launched.
The production of industrial robots grew 28% compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, the manufacture of service robots reached 18.581 million units, an increase of 16.1%.
Additionally, there were about 1 million robotics-related companies operating in China.
By the end of 2025, the country recorded 744 investment operations in embedded intelligence and robotics, with total funding of 73.54 billion yuan.
With cleaning, industrial, collaborative, bionic, and humanoid robots, China consolidates a new stage of its technological strategy.
Thus, the country transforms productive capacity, technical mastery, and industrial scale into a global presence in the most advanced sectors of the economy.
