From Prodigy Student to Humanitarian Doctor, José Victor Menezes Teles Transformed Personal Overcoming into a Social Mission and Dreams of Creating a Medical Center in Itabaiana, Providing Free Care and Hope to the Underprivileged Population

José Victor Menezes Teles, originally from Itabaiana, Sergipe, became a symbol of overcoming and inspiration. At 14, he gained national attention by being accepted into Medical School, even without completing High School.

Today, at 21, graduated and specialized in Gynecology and Obstetrics, he dedicates his plans to his hometown, where he intends to found a Social Medical Center focused on serving the most underprivileged population.

A Dream Born from Family

José Victor’s journey is marked by the encouragement of his parents, both teachers. His love for medicine came with a strong sense of social responsibility.

Together with his fiancée, Catarina Fagundes, also a doctor, he wants to offer humanized care, bringing together science and empathy.

For the young man, giving back to the community is the noblest way to practice the profession.

Obstacles and Early Achievements

The beginning of his university journey was challenging as he had to resort to the courts to enroll at the Federal University of Sergipe.

Without a school diploma, he took 13 tests to obtain the certificate and finally start the course.

During the pandemic, he worked on the front lines, putting into practice everything he had learned, which further reinforced his medical vocation.

The Youngest Doctor: From Family Example to Collective Legacy

Today, José Victor inspires his three younger siblings to follow their own paths.

Moreover, the Social Medical Center project represents the desire to amplify this example, bringing health, dignity, and hope to the residents of Itabaiana.

With his dedication and empathy, he shows that medicine can be more than a profession: a commitment to the collective good and a way to transform lives through human care.
