The transaction is part of Petrobras’ strategy to divest assets in the domestic market.

Transaction for the Sale of the Golfinho and Camarupim Fields from Petrobras to BW Energy May Be Completed in the Second Quarter of 2023

BW Energy expects the closing of the acquisition of the Golfinho and Camarupim oil fields from Petrobras to occur in the second quarter of 2023, after a delay in the transaction.

The company announced the acquisition of the fields in June 2022, but the completion of the transaction was postponed due to regulatory issues.

With the completion of the transaction, in addition to acquiring the fields from the oil company, it will also acquire about 65% WI in the BM-ES-23 offshore block in Brazil from Petrobras. Thus, it will become the operator of all these areas.

The Golfinho and Camarupim fields are located off the coast of the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, and have a combined average production of about 13,000 barrels of oil per day.

The companies expected the transaction to be finalized in the first quarter of this year, but due to regulatory processes, it has not yet been completed. Now, with the new updates, BW Energy expects to finalize the acquisition of Petrobras’ fields in the second quarter of this year.

“BW Energy was informed today that the work related to the Golfinho transactions can be resumed”, stated the company regarding the resumption of negotiations for the purchase of the fields.

The company’s announcement reinforces its interest in acquiring the assets of the Brazilian state-owned company, in addition to taking over the FPSO Cidade de Vitória from Saipem. Therefore, negotiations will continue, and new details should be announced to the market soon.

The Acquisition of the Golfinho and Camarupim Fields by BW Energy Reinforces the Company’s Interest in the Brazilian Market

The acquisition of the Golfinho and Camarupim fields by BW Energy is an important step for the company, which seeks to expand its presence in the Brazilian oil and gas production market.

The company is focused on a strategy of organic and inorganic growth, seeking to acquire new assets to expand its production base.

This transaction is also part of Petrobras’ strategy to sell assets to reduce its debt and concentrate its efforts on deepwater oil production assets.

The Brazilian company has been looking to sell several assets in recent years, including oil fields and pipelines, to reduce its debt and increase its profitability.

With the acquisition of the Golfinho and Camarupim fields by BW Energy nearing completion, the multinational company and Petrobras will be significantly benefited in the oil and natural gas sector.
