The Price of a Liter of Gasoline in Ceará Has Increased for the Fifth Consecutive Week. Days After Petrobras Announced a Gasoline Price Hike, the Northeastern State Continues to Have the Highest Prices in Brazil.
According to a survey by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), conducted between January 22 and 28, the price of gasoline in Ceará rose by R$ 0.04 compared to the previous week. After Petrobras announced the gasoline price increase, the price remains the highest in all of Brazil, raising concerns among citizens.
Gasoline Prices in Ceará Exceed the Values Across the Country. Even in Small Towns, the Numbers Are Striking
Currently, the average price of a liter of gasoline in Ceará is R$ 5.56, already considering the increase reported in the ANP survey.
Monitoring has been conducted weekly, and it is noticeable from the collected data that it has now been five weeks where the price continues to rise, highlighting Ceará in a concerning way.

To arrive at the current results, the ANP conducts a thorough survey of prices at fuel stations throughout the state and, based on this, calculates an average.
A total of 124 locations in Ceará and nine different municipalities were analyzed, including small towns and the major capital, Fortaleza, to arrive at the amount of R$ 5.56.
Throughout the survey, the agency also highlighted the maximum and minimum prices found at the gas stations.
The cheapest liter of gasoline in Ceará was recorded in Sobral, costing R$ 5.09, while the highest price in the state was found in Fortaleza, at R$ 5.88, which makes sense given the high tourist traffic and the potential for increased revenue due to activity in the capital.
Despite the constant variation in the price of regular gasoline, the price of additives shows some stability compared to the previous week.
The survey was conducted at 103 different locations throughout the state, and the calculated average was R$ 5.70. The minimum price found was the same as for regular gasoline, R$ 5.09, and the maximum reached R$ 6.29.
Average Price of a Liter of Gasoline in Ceará Exceeds the Average Resale Price in Brazil
Petrobras announced that the price of regular gasoline would increase by R$ 0.23, affecting distributors and the final consumer consequently.
However, despite the news, the average resale price of the fuel decreased slightly when compared to the previous average.
The fluctuation was R$ 0.01, meaning it dropped from R$ 4.98 to R$ 4.97.
Despite the minimal decrease, it is important to consider that this drop occurred even in the context of an increase in the pass-through price to distributors, something announced by Petrobras itself.
This indicates that, in stable situations, prices may continue to decrease gradually, which also depends on other factors.
During the national analysis, the minimum and maximum prices were quite disparate: the cheapest liter of gasoline reached R$ 4.09, while the most expensive was R$ 6.99, showing a stark difference, but resulting in a considerable average.
Thanks to this, the ANP remains vigilant regarding the upcoming announcements from Petrobras to analyze how future fluctuations in gasoline prices will affect the average price in Brazil, and consequently, the specific costs throughout Ceará. From small towns to the capital, the average increase continues to attract attention.
