Multinationals Toyota, Chevrolet, Volkswagen and Fiat treat what happened as a suspension, not a definitive closure of production in Brazil
After the departure of the automaker Ford from Brazil, the global supply crisis and the pandemic made numerous car factories, such as Chevrolet, Honda, Audi (Volkswagen), Scania, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Nissan and Fiat suspend vehicle production . What happened also reached the Toyota automaker and the country's automotive industry could collapse.

According to information from Toyota do Brasil, the company will have to carry out a new suspension, this time at the factory in Indaiatuba (SP), which will take place from 13/10. According to the brand, production will remain paralyzed until 23/10. Remembering that the Japanese factory in the interior of SP is responsible for the production of Corolla sedan vehicles.
Toyota will stop manufacturing Corolla Sedan vehicles at its factory and will place employees on collective vacations
According to the official statement, Toyota stated: “Despite all the efforts we have made over time to manage the lack of inputs that affects the global supply chain, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, a new stop is inevitable".

In this way, the vehicle manufacturer will give collective vacations to workers at the SP factory during the stoppage. The return to activities, for the time being, is scheduled for 25/10.
Toyota says that the other factories also located in the state of São Paulo will continue to operate. They are: São Bernardo do Campo, Porto Feliz and Sorocaba.
The automaker treats what happened as a suspension, not a definitive closure of production in Brazil
Like other automakers in Brazil, it is not the first time, in a short time, that Toyota has decided to temporarily stop work, due to the lack of inputs, such as semiconductors. For example, on 11/08 of this year, the brand temporarily paralyzed the factory in Sorocaba (SP) for 10 days.
At the same time, Toyota's factory in Porto Feliz (SP) was partially paralyzed, according to the automaker's press office.
On the other hand, as already mentioned, unlike the stoppage announced in Indaiatuba, Toyota's units in Brazil in São Bernardo do Campo, Porto Feliz and Sorocaba will continue with their normal activities.
After Ford Ka and Hyundai HB20, Duster has zero score in impact test and multinational Renault could be fined a million
Multinational Renault Nissan is in the sights of Procon-SP after the Renault Duster is evaluated with a zero score in an impact test carried out by Latin NCAP, where the vehicle overturned and leaked fuel in the frontal collision. The result was released last Friday (27th) by the independent road safety institute for Latin American and Caribbean markets, which last year also zeroed the ratings of the Ford Ka and Hyundai HB20.
After the disastrous result, the consumer protection agency linked to the Government of São Paulo, is demanding clarification from Renault regarding the poor performance of the Duster, which in the evaluation carried out by the LatinNCAP, the entry-level Duster vehicle, from the French multinational, equipped with the two mandatory front airbags and electronic stability control, got a zero score and even overturned and leaked fuel in the frontal collision, carried out against a fixed barrier at 64 km/h.
And it didn't stop there, the Duster's door opened in the side impact, bringing "serious risk of passenger ejection", while the structure of the SUV was considered "unstable" - all according to the institute. Upon announcing the result, Latin NCAP recommended that Renault recall the model. Last Friday, the company pointed out that the sport utility vehicle "strictly complies with regulations" for the Brazilian market.
It is worth mentioning that the zero score applied to Duster was based on stricter criteria adopted by Latin NCAP from 2020 – the same ones that also reset the score to zero for Ford Ka and Hyundai HB20 last year, after both received better evaluations following the previous protocol.
