Siemens is about to take an important step in its strategy to lead industrial 5G operations in the Brazilian market

Siemens is waiting for Anatel's approval of the new industrial 5G router for September. The company is bringing the Scalance MUM856-1 router to the country, exclusive equipment that allows connecting local industrial applications to a public mobile telephone network (5G, 4G and 3G). And the expectation is that the new product already has approval for use by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) next September.

Private network for 5G is important for Siemens to maintain Brazil's competitiveness and lower costs compared to other countries. “We are working to finalize the regulation of bands and make 400 megahertz available for private networks. This will be essential to maintain Brazil's competitiveness and lower costs in relation to other countries", said the representative of the Anatel.

According to Linhares, Brazilian companies can now request a 2.3 gigahertz frequency band as a gateway to 5G in the Brazilian market and the expectation is that from October frequency bands between 3.7 and 3.8 gigahertz will be available for private networks . “Our intention is to have a menu of tracks offered to the market”, he says.

The fact that the regulations in the country allow private networks to use 5G makes the Brazilian market similar to that of Germany. This similarity was commented on by the Director. “With these characteristics, any initiative carried out with 5G in Germany can at the same time be brought to the Brazilian market. Our perspective is that Brazil is at the top of the industry in wireless innovation,” said Sander Rotmensen.

The panel on industrial 5G was moderated by the Director of Factory Automation at Siemens, Rafael Dias.
