IFMS Offers Free Positions for In-Person Language Courses in Seven Cities of Mato Grosso do Sul, Starting in February 2026. Registrations Take Place Online and Include Proficiency Test for Advanced Levels.

The Federal Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul (IFMS) has opened registrations for 318 positions in free, in-person English, Spanish, and Libras courses, starting on February 9, 2026.

Registration must be completed online by November 19, with a proficiency test for candidates who already have knowledge and wish to enroll above the basic level.

Classes will take place at the campuses in Aquidauana, Campo Grande, Corumbá, Coxim, Naviraí, Ponta Porã, and Três Lagoas.

Of the total positions, 75% are allocated to students and staff of the institute.

Course Structure and Levels Offered

The courses are part of the Language Center (Cenid) of IFMS and are divided into basic and intermediate levels, each lasting for three semesters.

The initial classes are aimed at those with no prior knowledge, while the more advanced levels depend on performance in the online proficiency test.

The training is recognized as professional qualification in the Initial and Continuing Education (FIC) modality.

According to IFMS, the goal is to expand the availability of free language training and promote inclusion through language education.

Schedule and Selection Stages

According to the schedule, the preliminary disclosure of approved registrations and the call for the proficiency test will occur on November 21.

The online tests will be conducted between November 24 and December 1, with preliminary results expected by December 8.

The electronic lottery for positions will take place on December 12, with a live broadcast on the IFMS YouTube channel at 3 PM.

The final classification and the first call will be published on December 19.

Online registrations must be made from January 12 to 16, 2026.

If positions are still available, the second call will be announced on January 23, with registrations from January 26 to 30.

The start of classes is scheduled for February 9, 2026.

Details About the Proficiency Test

Candidates wishing to enter intermediate levels must participate in the online proficiency test, which is diagnostic in nature.

In the tests for English and Spanish, the assessment covers text interpretation, grammar, and listening comprehension, with multiple-choice questions.

In Libras, the exam evaluates visual comprehension, grammatical structure, and basic communication skills.

IFMS informs that the test is only used to indicate the most appropriate level for entry.

The final selection will be determined by the electronic lottery, according to the number of positions available in each course and campus.

Cities and Distribution of Positions

The 318 positions are distributed among the seven campuses of IFMS, varying according to the language and level offered at each unit.

In compliance with institutional regulations, 75% of the positions are reserved for the internal public (students and staff), and 25% are open to the external community.

According to the institute, the measure follows the guidelines of the Internationalization Plan, which aims to expand access to language learning within the federal network.

Access and Support for Those Without Internet

Candidates who do not have a computer or internet access can seek the Relationship Center (Cerel) at the campus where they wish to study.

The spaces provide equipment for registration and, when necessary, for online tests.

The addresses and service hours of the units are available on the Selection Center of IFMS, where lists of registered candidates, results, and calls are also published.

Transparency and Electronic Lottery

IFMS uses an auditable electronic system to conduct the lottery for positions.

The process generates a random classification order based on a numerical seed disclosed by the institution, allowing for public verification of the result.

The lottery will be broadcast live and will be available for consultation.

How to Register

Registrations are free and must be made exclusively through the Candidate Page, available on the Selection Center of IFMS, until November 19.

It is necessary to fill out the electronic form, indicating the course, language, and campus of interest.

Those without internet access can visit the Cerel of the corresponding campus to register using a computer from the institution.

Information about addresses, hours, and the complete schedule can be consulted on the official IFMS website.
