Arabs disembark at the port of Rio de Janeiro and seek investment in Brazil

In the visits to Rio de Janeiro and Itajaí, we met some potential companies and we are in initial negotiations, said Mazrouei, director of Abu Dhabi Ports

Businessmen from the city of Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, visited the Port of Rio de Janeiro, this Friday, the 25th. The group showed interest in strengthening relations and expanding business in Brazil. Saudi Arabia announces $10 billion in investments in Brazil.

Jean Paulo Castro e Silva, Director of Commercial Relations and Planning at Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro, together with the CDRJ technical team, presented investment opportunities in the Ports of Rio de Janeiro and Itaguaí, to the directors of the Khalifa Industrial Zone and Abu Dhabi Ports — the company that operates the port in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Seminar at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce

After visiting Rio, Saif Al Mazrouei, director of the company Abu Dhabi Ports, participated in the seminar at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in São Paulo, this Wednesday, 27th, and spoke about business opportunities in the Free Trade Zone and Port of Abu dhabi.

The presentation brought together around seventy representatives of food, coffee, cosmetics, mining, construction, trading and foreign trade consulting companies, among other interested parties.

Mazrouei spoke about his entourage's visits to Itajaí and Rio de Janeiro, “During the visits to Itajaí and Rio de Janeiro we met some potential companies and we are in initial negotiations. We like Brazil and we are here because our countries have a strong economic and commercial relationship and we see many opportunities that we can explore, from Abu Dhabi specifically and from Brazilian companies to Abu Dhabi. We are interested in the shipping and logistics sectors, and in areas that can add value to the business. I thank the Arab Brazilian Chamber for facilitating visits to potential partners in the Emirates,” said the executive.

The Khalifa port, in Abu Dhabi, is one of the most important in the Gulf region and currently has the capacity to handle 2,5 million TEUs, a unit equivalent to a 20-foot container. According to the company's CEO, the goal is to reach and perhaps even exceed 9,1 million TEUs by 2021.

“Abu Dhabi has one of the largest ports in the region and billions of dollars in business potential. I am proud to see Brazilian companies at Kizad. If you already have an operation in the Emirates or want to set one up, we are here to help,” said Mazrouei.

"We are here after the visit of the President of Brazil to the Emirates in October, we would like to explore more opportunities to attract and carry out investments. We are looking for several investment opportunities here, we have already visited Rio, Itajaí and São Paulo, and we would like to offer business opportunities to Brazilian companies in Abu Dhabi and region, and it shows how they can expand their business globally using our Kizad services” , added Marzooqi.

“We are a one-stop shop (single window), you can start small, with an office, and then gradually expand the operation. A JBS it started like that and today there is a large operation in our free zone”, said the director referring to the Brazilian food giant.
