Mercado Livre Obtains Revenue Of US$ 1.7 Billion
The company announced on Wednesday (04) that it achieved a revenue of US$ 1.7 billion between April and June, an increase of over 100% compared to the same period in 2020. As it also has activities in financial services, these positions represent a high number of jobs for professionals in that sector.
It is worth noting that among the more than 5,000 new employees that the company needed to hire from the end of last year until now, 2,500 are Black, part of a diversity enhancement program created by the company.
According to Patrícia, a large part of the growth was for logistics operations, where the company operates in 129 locations. However, there was also a need to hire in the financial services sector and in technology. Its capacity to deliver products comes from this network expansion.
Pandemic Boosts Online Buying And Selling
During the pandemic, digital commerce experienced an explosion in Brazil. The need to purchase, combined with the necessity of staying home, led to over 7 million people making their first purchases online in 2020. One of the initiatives that came with the acceleration of e-commerce was the focus on reducing the delivery time of goods, so that buyers could have a better experience in their first online purchases.
In June, Mercado Livre announced that purchases made by 11 a.m. would be delivered the same day in São Paulo, Salvador, and Florianópolis. Other companies like Magazine Luiza, Amazon, and Americanas also launched similar proposals to compete.
According to Patrícia, with the onset of the pandemic, it was necessary to expand the logistics fleet to provide a better consumer experience, as many services were halted at the beginning of the pandemic. There were several changes in how to expand, hire, and acquire partners. It is worth noting that those wishing to apply can access the company’s job site.
