Mercado Livre – Leader in E-Commerce Technology Follows Amazon’s Path and Announces It Will Open Five More Distribution Centers in the Country, One of Them in Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Santa Catarina
Of the five Mercado Livre warehouses, four will operate on a fulfillment model: there will be two units in Cajamar (SP), one in Extrema (MG), and another in Celso Ramos (SC). In this model, partner sellers leave their products at the distribution center even before the sale, and the e-commerce leader is responsible for sorting, packing, and shipping to consumers.

The fifth warehouse for e-commerce expansion, located in Guarulhos, São Paulo, is strategically located near the city’s international airport and will operate using a “cross-docking” system, in which the partner supplier of the platform stores the products and manages their stocks until the sale moment, when Mercado Livre collects the units for distribution to customers.
With the new warehouses, Mercado Livre now has seven distribution centers in Brazil and has also promised to open 13,500 new logistics jobs by the end of next year, further expanding e-commerce in Brazil.
