Several Models of Chevrolet, Renault, and Toyota Are About to Be Discontinued in Brazil. Find Out Which Cars Will No Longer Be Available Soon

In 2024, the Brazilian automotive market is undergoing significant changes with the discontinuation of several car models that have been present in the country’s dealerships. Brands such as Citroën, Chevrolet, Renault, Toyota, and Hyundai have decided to discontinue vehicles that no longer meet the expectations of modern consumers.

The motivation for these brands is the ongoing quest for innovation and alignment with new technological and environmental requirements.

Most of these cars will be replaced by more modern or electric versions, as part of a global trend toward electrification and improved energy efficiency.

Below, we will briefly explore the reasons why each of these cars will be discontinued and how this impacts the Brazilian market.

Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV

The Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV are two of the few 100% electric models from the brand, but their time in Brazil is running out. Although they still appear on the official Chevrolet website, global production has been halted, and the trend is for their last units to run out in dealerships soon. In terms of power, both are excellent, delivering 203 hp and 36.7 kgfm of torque.

The major turning point for the end of the Bolts in Brazil was the price, considered high for the category, with values reaching R$ 240,150 for the Bolt EV and R$ 279,783 for the Bolt EUV. Now, Chevrolet is preparing to bring an electric version of the Equinox, which will take over the Bolts’ role in the national market, representing a new phase in the brand’s electrification.

Citroën C4 Cactus

The Citroën C4 Cactus, since its launch, has stood out in the Brazilian market for its personality and for offering powerful engines, especially the 1.6 THP turbo, which delivers 173 hp. With this engine, the SUV has managed to combine performance and economy, something difficult for the segment. Even the versions equipped with the naturally aspirated 1.6 engine, with 120 hp, offered reasonable performance.

Despite its relative success, the C4 Cactus was already showing signs of aging compared to more modern competitors. The arrival of more compact and efficient SUVs, like the Citroën C3 Aircross, marked the beginning of its farewell. Thus, even with good sales and presence on Citroën’s website, its production will be discontinued throughout 2024. In dealerships, it can still be found, with prices starting at R$ 111,990.

Chevrolet Camaro, One of the Most Beloved Cars in Brazil

The Chevrolet Camaro, an icon of muscle cars, is also bidding farewell to the Brazilian market. The production of the current sixth generation was halted in March 2023, marking the end of an era. Chevrolet brought to Brazil the special edition “Camaro Collection” to commemorate this moment, with only 125 units available.

Equipped with a powerful naturally aspirated V8 6.2 engine that produces 461 hp and 62.9 kgfm of torque, the Camaro delivers a visceral driving experience. Its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds is one of the model’s hallmarks.

With the end of the Camaro and other muscle cars, such as the Dodge Challenger and Charger, the Ford Mustang becomes the only survivor of the golden era of high-performance cars in the United States.

Renault Logan

The Renault Logan, once one of the preferred sedans for taxi drivers and ride-hailing drivers, is also counting down its days in Brazil. Currently, it is sold in two versions – Life and Zen – both equipped with a 1.0 naturally aspirated engine producing 82 hp and a five-speed manual transmission.

Its price starts at R$ 97,500, but the lack of relevant updates has made the model less attractive to modern consumers.

With increasingly modern and technological competitors, such as the Chevrolet Onix Plus and Hyundai HB20 S, the Logan seems outdated. Even with good fuel economy and ample interior space, the old design and lack of technological features make it a less competitive option.

Renault has not officially confirmed the end of the Logan, but low sales indicate that the production line should be closed soon.

Renault Stepway

Following Logan’s fate, the Renault Stepway is also likely to stop being manufactured in Brazil. This model is the only remaining version of the Sandero, and despite its qualities, such as a more robust design and higher suspension, it could not compete with the new compact SUVs dominating the market.

The Stepway is offered only in the Zen 1.0 version, with a naturally aspirated engine of 82 hp and a five-speed manual transmission. Its price starts at R$ 86,990. Like the Logan, the Stepway will be replaced by the Renault Kardian, a compact SUV that promises to fill the space left by the adventure hatchback. The discontinuation of the Stepway marks the end of an era for the Sandero in Brazil.

Toyota Yaris Hatch and Yaris Sedan

Another model that is set to be discontinued in Brazil is the Toyota Yaris, both in hatch and sedan versions. The Yaris has always been a reliable and economical option, with low maintenance costs, but the arrival of new competitors, such as the Honda City, has made the model less attractive. In 2024, it is expected to be replaced by the Yaris Cross, a crossover that will better reflect the current market demands.

The hatch and sedan versions of the Yaris share the same naturally aspirated 1.5 engine, with 110 hp and 14.9 kgfm of torque, always coupled to an automatic transmission. Although still available in XL, XS, and XLS versions, the lack of significant updates has left the Yaris behind in terms of technology and design, resulting in its inevitable end.

Hyundai Creta Action

Finally, the Hyundai Creta Action, the entry-level version of the popular SUV, is also bidding farewell. With the launch of the new generation of the Creta in 2021, the Action version, which retained the look of the first generation, continued to be produced but is expected to be discontinued by the end of 2024.

Equipped with a 1.6 naturally aspirated engine producing 130 hp, the Creta Action offers decent performance, but its design and engine are already outdated compared to the latest models. The starting price is R$ 119,990. With the complete update of the Creta line, the end of the Creta Action marks the conclusion of an important phase for Hyundai in Brazil.

In summary, the discontinuation of these car models from the Brazilian market in 2024 reflects the changes and updates by automakers in an effort to meet new consumer demands. While some car models will be replaced by newer generations, others are saying goodbye without a return forecast.
