Forgotten Money Can Be Redeemed by CPF or CNPJ in the Central Bank System; Most Amounts Are Below R$ 10
The Central Bank announced this Tuesday (13) that over R$ 9.1 billion in amounts to be received remain forgotten by Brazilians in financial institutions. The update, referring to the month of March, shows that 42.1 million individuals and 4.3 million companies have money stuck in the system — some amounts are symbolic, while others are more significant.
The information was extracted directly from the System of Amounts to Be Received (SVR), the official platform that allows users to check and withdraw the so-called “forgotten amounts” in inactive accounts, improperly charged fees, and other credits not claimed by account holders over the years.
Amounts to Be Received: Most Still Have Less Than R$ 10
According to the Central Bank’s report, 33.1 million Brazilians have between R$ 0.01 and R$ 10.00 to withdraw. Meanwhile, another 999 thousand citizens have amounts above R$ 1,000.01, which proves that significant sums are available for consultation.

How to Check If You Have Forgotten Money
To check if you have any forgotten money, the citizen should access the Amounts to Be Received System, available on the Central Bank’s official website. Check the step-by-step:
- Access the official website of the System of Amounts to Be Received;
- Log in with your gov.br account at silver or gold level;
- Click on “My Amounts to Receive”;
- Accept the terms of acknowledgment;
- View:
- The amount available for withdrawal;
- Name of the institution that should return the amount;
- Source of the amount;
- Additional information about the credit.
Amounts to Be Received from the Central Bank: How to Redeem
Upon identifying that you have a balance, the system may present different ways to redeem:
- If the option “Request Here” is available with a Pix key:
- Select a Pix key;
- Provide your information;
- The amount will be transferred within 12 business days.
Important: even with a Pix key, the return may occur via TED or DOC, and the institution may contact you to confirm your identity — but never request passwords.
- If there is no registered Pix key:
- Contact the institution using the information displayed in the system;
- Agree on the method of return;
- The time to receive may vary.
- If the option “Request Here” does not appear:
- The withdrawal must be requested directly from the responsible institution.
- For amounts over R$ 100, requiring double verification:
- Enable two-factor authentication on gov.br;
- Return to the system to request the redemption.
Why Do These Amounts Stay Forgotten?
The phenomenon of forgotten amounts in the Central Bank occurs, most often, due to the closure of accounts with remaining balances, unclaimed refunds, or improper charges that have not been automatically refunded. Many Brazilians are unaware that they have any amounts to receive — which reinforces the importance of checking the system frequently.
According to specialists, the total can provide relief for families with tight budgets. Although many amounts are low, the system allows for the redemption of significant sums in some cases — including for companies.
Forgotten Money: Redemption Is Free and Safe
The Central Bank warns that all procedures are free and must be done exclusively through the official system. Users should be wary of messages, emails, or calls requesting personal data or passwords with the promise of expediting the redemption. These contacts are attempts at scams.
The platform gov.br is the only secure way to access the SVR. Financial institutions are also not authorized to mediate the withdrawal.
