The Contract with Boston Scientific Allows Balancing 80% of Energy Consumption in Europe Through Renewable Energy and Virtual Power Purchase Agreement.

BayWa r.e., a renewable energy company, has just entered into a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Boston Scientific, a global leader in medical technology, to supply solar electricity. This is the first agreement of its kind signed by BayWa r.e. with a healthcare company, marking an important milestone in the renewable energy sector. Through this 10-year VPPA, the company will provide additional electricity from the 15.1 MW Alcalá solar park in exchange for securing renewable energy for approximately 80% of Boston Scientific’s European consumption, an action that reinforces the company’s commitment to solar park.

Through this VPPA, Boston Scientific ensures a sustainable energy source, strengthening its commitment to procure clean energy for its operations in Europe. This agreement also demonstrates the growth and establishment of green energy solutions across Europe, highlighting the importance and positive impact of renewable energies in the current market.

Virtual Power Purchase Agreement Drives Boston Scientific Towards Renewable Energy

Boston Scientific, Inc. has signed a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) for solar parks in Europe, taking a significant step towards its goal of using 100% renewable energy by 2021.

The VPPA will be applied to a solar park in Munich, Germany, which is expected to generate enough energy to cover the entire electricity consumption of Boston Scientific’s European operations. This represents a significant advancement in the company’s initiative to reduce its carbon footprint and promote environmental sustainability.

The VPPA allows Boston Scientific to purchase energy generated by the solar park at a fixed price for a period of 12 years. This not only ensures the supply of green energy but also helps stabilize long-term energy costs, reducing the company’s exposure to fluctuations in the energy market.

Furthermore, the company is actively committed to supporting renewable energy by participating in initiatives to drive the renewable energy PPA market in Europe. Through these initiatives, Boston Scientific is contributing to the development of a more sustainable electricity grid, where renewable energy plays a crucial role.

With this move, Boston Scientific reaffirms its commitment to adopting sustainable energy sources and strengthens its position as a leader in corporate sustainability. By prioritizing renewable energy, the company will not only significantly reduce its carbon footprint, but also serve as an example for other companies looking to adopt more sustainable practices in their operations. Renewable energy is undoubtedly the way forward for companies that wish to promote environmental sustainability and reduce their impact on the planet.
