Investment in Four Fronts
The financing comes from the Program for the Construction and Expansion of Warehouses (PCA), linked to the 2024/25 Harvest Plan, and from Finem, a support line from BNDES itself.
The main beneficiaries are: Copacol, Coamo, Energética Santa Helena, and Vale do Paracatu. Together, these four organizations will receive the approved amount to carry out expansion, modernization, and construction of new storage units.
Copacol Receives Highest Volume of Resources
The Agroindustrial Cooperative Consolata (Copacol), in Western Paraná, will be the largest beneficiary. The released amount is R$ 83.8 million, of which R$ 52.84 million comes from PCA and R$ 31 million from Finem. The funding represents 91.4% of the cooperative’s total investment.
In Cascavel, the Melissa unit will more than double its grain storage capacity, increasing from 23,500 to 58,000 tons.
Three new silos will be built, each with a capacity of 11,500 tons. The unit will also gain new loading and unloading lines, with a flow of 200 tons per hour.
In Jesuítas, two fronts will benefit. In the Feed Factory, capacity will increase from 163,000 to 209,000 tons, with four new metal silos.
In the Grain Storage Unit, also in Jesuítas, capacity will expand from 45,000 to 68,000 tons, with two new silos.
The works are expected to generate indirect jobs: 62 at the Melissa unit, 170 at the Feed Factory, and 65 at the grain unit in Jesuítas.
Coamo Invests in the Midwest of Paraná
The Coamo Agroindustrial Cooperative also received support from BNDES. The total amount is R$ 52.84 million, entirely from PCA.
The funds will be used to modernize and expand storage units in Barbosa Ferraz, Brasilândia do Sul, and Engenheiro Beltrão, in the Midwest of Paraná.
The total capacity of the three units will be expanded from 123.6 thousand to 183.6 thousand tons of grains. Additionally, the project aims to improve the flow of receiving and storing production, maintaining the quality of grains while the producer awaits better selling opportunities.
During the works, 75 temporary jobs are expected to be created at the attended units.
Santa Helena Expands Operations in MS
Energética Santa Helena S.A., in Eastern Mato Grosso do Sul, was also awarded funding. The total financing is R$ 40 million, with R$ 25 million from PCA and R$ 15 million from Finem. The funds represent 90.6% of the company’s total investment.
In Nova Andradina, a warehouse with a capacity of 50 thousand tons of sugar and a factory capable of producing 850 tons of the product per day will be built. The new complex will be installed alongside the company’s ethanol plant.
With this structure, the company will be able to alternate between the production of sugar and ethanol, which helps diversify revenue and reduce business risks.
100 direct jobs are expected during the implementation, with 50 permanent positions after completion. In total, the project is expected to generate 150 indirect jobs during construction and 70 after delivery.
Vale do Paracatu Focuses on Sugar in Minas
In Paracatu, in Northwestern Minas Gerais, Vale do Paracatu Bioenergia S/A will receive R$ 40 million from BNDES.
The amount will be divided between the construction of a warehouse with the capacity to store up to 60 thousand tons of sugar (R$ 34.9 million) and a factory with a production capacity of 155 thousand tons per year (R$ 5.1 million). The financing covers 25.7% of the total project.
During execution, it is estimated that 300 direct jobs will be created. After completion, the company will have 70 permanent jobs.
