The Agreement Was Signed During The Visit Of U.S. Secretary Of Commerce, Wilbur Ross, To Brazil And According To Him The Brazilian Government’s Project Schedule Is Impressive
A meeting between the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Freitas, and U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross, culminated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding.
The memorandum signed yesterday (08/01) refers to improving the flow of business and investments in infrastructure projects undertaken by Americans here in Brazil.
The American secretary was very pleased with the Current Project Schedule Of The Brazilian Government and took the opportunity to state that negotiations between Brazil and the U.S. for a free trade agreement officially began with the signing of the document.
“Earlier today I met with the Minister of Infrastructure. I am very impressed with the level of detail in your planning and with the fact that he has very short-term plans coming up. This is a government that is really starting to move. This is a very important consideration for those who are a little nervous about investing. I am less nervous here than in other places,” said the secretary.

The Involved Parties
The memorandum of understanding was between the Brazilian government’s Program of Partnerships and Investments (PPI) and Opic, the American agency focused on financing projects outside the U.S.
To give an idea of the power of the American institution, Opic has about US$ 60 billion for investments in emerging countries and Latin America is the primary focus for the U.S.
According to Verônica Sanchez, secretary for the coordination of strategic works at PPI, the partnership with the Americans will be very beneficial for the country.
“We have a gap, and this gap needs to be filled by partnerships with private companies, not just Brazilian companies, but from all over the world. We really want the support and participation of American companies in the country,” said the secretary.
It was also decided by the agreement that Brazil and the U.S. will prepare an agenda to establish a group of infrastructure projects to be developed.
