Brazil Wins Three Gold Medals at the 10th Edition of Cacao of Excellence Among 50 Finalists Selected From 191 Samples From 45 World Origins
Brazil won three gold medals at the Cacao of Excellence, the world’s leading award dedicated to cocoa quality, held this Friday, February 20, in Amsterdam, consolidating the country at the top among 50 finalist samples evaluated by an international jury.
The medal classification for the 50 finalist samples was divided into gold, silver, and bronze, and the three Brazilian winners topped the podium.
The awarded producers had direct origins in the 6th edition of the National Special Cocoa Contest, organized by the Cocoa Innovation Center in 2024.

The Brazilian competition serves as a qualifier for the international jury of the Cacao of Excellence. By excelling in the national contest, producers advance to the global stage, where the samples are technically evaluated and classified into gold, silver, and bronze.
According to Cristiano Villela, scientific director of the Cocoa Innovation Center, the victory also celebrates the effectiveness of using the National Special Cocoa Contest as a qualifying stage for the main global contest in the sector.
CoEx Champions Include Producers From Bahia and Para with Specific Sensory Profile Blends
Cláudia Sá, producer from Fazenda Santa Cruz in Itacaré BA, won with the blend “Encantada,” described with floral notes and fresh red fruits, according to the technical evaluation by Adriana Reis, sensory analysis specialist at CIC.
During the ceremony, Cláudia stated that the cocoa was cultivated in the cabruca system, where planting occurs under the shade of native trees.
According to her, the model conserves springs, flora, fauna, endemic species, and contributes to a healthier climate.
Gilmar Batista de Souza from Uruará PA also received gold at the Cacao of Excellence with a blend marked by red fruits.
He declared that the medal symbolizes a country capable of producing excellent beans in practice.
“Alvorada01” Variety From Medicilândia Receives Gold With Description of Vibrant Acidity and Fruity Notes
The third gold was won by Leomar Silva Vieira from Medicilândia PA with the “Alvorada01” variety.
The judge and pastry chef in the United Kingdom, Giacomo Pischiutti, described the cocoa with vibrant acidity integrated with notes of red and yellow fruits and floral nuances.
The 8th edition of the National Cocoa Contest is confirmed for 2026. The result reinforces Brazil’s participation in the Cacao of Excellence and keeps the country among the main recognized producers in the global award.
