BAIC’s electric hatch is already being tested in Brazil and targets an expanding segment, with dimensions larger than compact rivals and technical data that still depend on confirmation for the national version.

The Chinese company BAIC is expected to start its operation in the Brazilian market with the Arcfox T1, a compact electric hatch that has already been seen in tests in the country and appears as a future competitor to models like BYD Dolphin, BYD Dolphin Mini, and Geely EX2.

The car was seen without camouflage in São Paulo, with visible logos, in an evaluation stage before the commercial debut scheduled for 2026.

The model belongs to Arcfox, the electrified vehicle division of the BAIC group.

The brand’s arrival comes at a time of expansion for Chinese manufacturers in Brazil, especially among electric and hybrid cars, a segment in which companies like BYD, GWM, and Geely already operate with imported products or announced industrial plans.

Arcfox T1 is already being tested in Brazil

The registration of the Arcfox T1 in Brazil indicates that BAIC has started local tests with the model.

Images published by specialized media show the hatch at a charging station on the Castelo Branco Highway in São Paulo, without visual disguises and with vehicle evaluation identification.

This type of circulation is used by manufacturers to verify operational parameters before sale.

In electric cars, the stage may involve energy consumption, compatibility with charging points, battery response, electronic calibration, and vehicle behavior in different usage conditions.

So far, BAIC has not disclosed the Brazilian configuration of the T1.

Automotive industry reports point to the hatch as one of the models considered for the opening of the national operation, with an estimated debut for 2026 and a projected price around R$ 140,000.

As there is no official price list, the value should be treated as an estimate published by specialized media.

Dimensions of the Arcfox T1 place the hatch above smaller compacts

Although presented as a compact electric hatch, the Arcfox T1 has dimensions larger than some urban models sold in Brazil.

In the configuration released for the Chinese market, the car measures 4.337 meters in length, 1.86 meters in width, 1.572 meters in height, and 2.77 meters in wheelbase.

These numbers place the T1 above the BYD Dolphin in length and wheelbase, according to comparisons published by the automotive press.

The larger wheelbase is often one of the factors that influence the space available for occupants, although the perception of comfort also depends on the internal architecture and the position of the seats.

The trunk capacity reported for the model in China is 459 liters.

This data was cited by specialized publications and refers to the configuration sold abroad, still without confirmation of any changes for the Brazilian market.

With this set of measurements, the T1 can be positioned above entry-level urban electric vehicles in terms of size.

The definition of the commercial framework, however, will depend on the imported version, the equipment package, and the final price that BAIC announces in Brazil.

Motor, battery, and range of the Chinese electric vehicle

In China, the Arcfox T1 is offered with different mechanical configurations.

The available information indicates versions with a 70 kW electric motor, equivalent to about 94 hp, and variations with higher power, close to 127 hp.

The batteries are of the LFP type, an acronym for lithium iron phosphate, a common technology in Chinese electric vehicles.

The range declared in the Chinese CLTC cycle reaches 425 km in the versions with greater range.

This number, however, cannot be directly transferred to the Brazilian standard, as the measurement cycles use different methods and may yield different results for the same vehicle.

Estimates published in Brazil suggest that the homologated range could be around 350 km, if the version with the largest battery is chosen for the country.

This data, however, still depends on official homologation in the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program and has not been confirmed by BAIC for the national configuration.

BAIC’s strategy for the Brazilian market

The entry of BAIC in Brazil is being prepared in parallel with the formation of a local network.

In April 2026, the company received a Brazilian delegation in China for meetings with BAIC International, technical visits, and discussions about sales channels, product adaptation, and cooperation models.

According to a statement from BAIC itself, more than 70 representatives linked to 30 dealership groups and partner organizations participated.

The company stated that the agenda included discussions on channel development, market potential, and product adaptation to Brazil.

The automaker is also cited by specialized vehicles as a brand that is evaluating local production in a future stage.

As there is no official confirmation about the factory, location, investment, or industrial schedule, this possibility should remain treated as a study, and not as an announced decision.

The Brazilian operation will depend on factors such as model approval, dealership network definition, after-sales structure, parts supply, and warranty policy.

These points usually weigh on the commercial performance of new brands, especially in segments where technical assistance and component availability influence the purchase decision.

Arcfox T1 enters the competition with BYD and Geely

The Arcfox T1 is expected to enter a market segment where other Chinese electric vehicles are already operating.

The BYD Dolphin Mini occupies an entry-level position among the brand’s electric models, while the conventional BYD Dolphin appears at a higher level.

The Geely EX2 also joins the list of Chinese compact electric vehicles present in the Brazilian market.

The comparison with the Dolphin Mini is explained by the compact electric hatchback proposal, but the size of the T1 brings it closer to larger models.

In relation to the conventional Dolphin, specialized publications highlight differences in length, wheelbase, and trunk volume, points that may influence the comparison between the versions sold in the country.

Besides price and range, the competition between the models should involve equipment package, charging time, battery warranty, service network, and maintenance cost.

These details still need to be clarified by BAIC before the T1 is sold in Brazil.

What BAIC still needs to confirm about the Arcfox T1

Even with units in testing, BAIC has not yet released complete information about the Arcfox T1 for Brazil.

The national versions, equipment list, warranty, initial dealership network, launch price, and range approved under Brazilian standards remain unannounced.

There is also no confirmation about potential local production.

The possibility was mentioned by specialized vehicles, but the manufacturer has not yet presented an industrial plan with a timeline, location, or expected volume.

The arrival of the Arcfox T1 adds another Chinese model to the competition of compact electrics in Brazil.

For the consumer, the comparison should consider price, range, interior space, technical assistance, and warranty conditions when BAIC releases the national configuration of the hatch.
