Minister Fernando Haddad Prepares Trip to Silicon Valley to Attract Investments in Data Centers in Brazil, Offering Tax Exemptions and Access to Renewable Energy
Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, is preparing a trip to Silicon Valley to attract investments from big tech companies to Brazil. The visit is scheduled for May 6 and aims to offer tax incentives and favorable conditions for the construction of new data centers, mainly in the Northeast.
Among the measures, the federal government will exempt companies from the main federal taxes. The list includes PIS, Cofins, IPI, and import duties for data center equipment.
In addition, easier access to renewable energy will be one of the main attractions, reinforcing Brazil’s competitive advantage in the global scenario.

The Ministry of Finance estimates that the country could receive up to R$ 2 trillion in investments over the next decade if the strategy works. The growing demand for servers, driven by advances in Artificial Intelligence, strengthens the outlook for the arrival of these new data centers.
In a statement to the press, Fernando Haddad emphasized the importance of Brazil gaining a more prominent global role. According to him, it is crucial to take advantage of the green energy available in the country to create opportunities and reduce dependence on foreign technological services.
Although the Ministry of Finance has not officially commented on the details of the initiative, a government source revealed to Reuters that Brazil’s neutral position in the trade dispute between China and the United States could be a strategic advantage.
The country, which maintains good relations with both sides, emerges as an ideal destination to receive investments from tech giants without facing major political barriers.
“We do not fight. We are friends with everyone. This means Brazil can serve the world without major obstacles“, stated the source, reinforcing the growth potential that the country can achieve in the coming years.
