About 7,000 free slots will be opened in Espírito Santo for the issuance of the National Identity Card, a document that gradually replaces the old RG, uses the CPF as a unique identification, and is starting to gain importance in public services and federal benefits.

The Government of Espírito Santo will open, this Friday (03), about 7,000 free slots for the issuance of the National Identity Card, a new RG model that uses the CPF as a unique identification number in the country.

The schedule will be released at 8 am, through the Agenda ES portal, and should serve residents seeking the first copy of the document, already issued to approximately 870,000 people in the state since 2022.

The demand is usually higher in more populous municipalities, such as Serra, Vila Velha, Cariacica, and Vitória, where available times tend to run out quickly.

Therefore, those who intend to secure service should access the system as soon as it is released, select the service, choose the city, and confirm the post with available time.

How the slots for obtaining the CIN work in Espírito Santo

The release of slots is part of the weekly service routine organized by the Scientific Police of Espírito Santo.

The online scheduling covers 37 municipalities in Espírito Santo, including Vitória, Serra, Vila Velha, Cariacica, Linhares, Colatina, Guarapari, Aracruz, Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, São Mateus, Nova Venécia, and Venda Nova do Imigrante.

In municipalities not listed on Agenda ES, residents should directly contact the identification post responsible for issuing the card.

In these cases, each unit defines its own form of service, without guaranteeing that the procedure follows the same schedule applied to posts with online booking.

The first copy of the National Identity Card is free, even for those who still have the old RG.

Charges may occur at accredited notaries, which also function as collection points, but they forward the data for validation by the Scientific Police, responsible for issuing the document.

Serra expands service for issuing the new RG

Serra received a new Civil Identification Post within the Municipal Chamber, through a partnership between the Scientific Police and the municipal Legislature.

With this unit, the municipality began offering more than 600 monthly slots for CIN issuance, also by prior appointment through Agenda ES.

The slots at this new post follow the same logic as other service points: the release occurs on Fridays, starting at 8 am, and the first copy remains free of charge.

The expansion aims to ease the demand in one of the cities with the highest demand for the new document in Espírito Santo.

Delay may cancel the service

After confirming the appointment, the citizen needs to arrive at the post at the scheduled time, as there is only a 15-minute tolerance.

Anyone arriving after this period automatically loses the slot and can only make a new appointment after a 15-day interval.

To avoid losing the service, the recommendation is to arrive in advance and bring the required documentation.

The main document is the original certificate, according to marital status: Birth Certificate for singles, Marriage Certificate for married individuals, and Marriage Certificate with annotation for divorced, separated, or widowed individuals.

It is also recommended to present proof of residence, such as a water, electricity, telephone, or internet bill, to facilitate registration verification.

Other documents can be brought for inclusion in the digital version of the CIN, such as NIS, PIS, Pasep, Work Card, National Health Card, CNH, Voter Registration, professional identity, and military certificate.

Those who wish to include blood type and Rh factor need to present a laboratory test signed by a responsible professional or a blood donor card issued by an official institute.

Issuance is not immediate, and the delivery of the new identity can take up to 90 days, according to the stages of validation and data verification.

What changes with the CPF as a unique number

The main change in the National Identity Card is the unification of the identification number.

Previously, the same person could have different RG records in different states; with the CIN, the CPF becomes the unique number throughout the national territory, reducing duplications and errors in public records.

The new document also features a QR Code, a physical version, and a digital version via the Gov.br app.

According to the Federal Government, the CIN was created to standardize civil identification, increase security against fraud, and facilitate access to public services and social benefits.

Old RG will still be accepted until 2032

The exchange for the new model will be gradual, and the traditional RG will continue to be officially accepted until February 28, 2032.

Thus, those with a document in good condition, with a current photo and legible information, do not need to replace their ID just because of the change in standards.

However, torn, stained, faded, damaged documents or those with a very old photo may be rejected by banks, notaries, companies, and public agencies.

In these cases, obtaining the CIN becomes an alternative to avoid problems in identity verification.

New ID will impact federal benefits

The National Identity Card will also be part of the biometric identification process used in social and welfare benefits.

For people without biometrics registered in an official database, the CIN will be mandatory from January 2027; for those who already have biometrics in databases like the CNH or Electoral Justice, the requirement starts in January 2028.

With the increased use of the CPF and biometrics, the new card will have greater importance in accessing public services, even without immediately invalidating the old RG.

In Espírito Santo, the combination of free issuance, limited scheduling, and future requirements is expected to keep demand for the document high in the coming months.
