Roberto Carlos bought two luxury apartments in Fort Lauderdale for around R$ 25 million, in a move that reinforces the advance of football stars in the Florida real estate market.

According to CARAS Brasil, former player Roberto Carlos has once again attracted attention off the field by investing in the United States real estate market. The former Brazilian National Team and Real Madrid left-back purchased two luxury apartments in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in a transaction valued at around R$ 25 million, equivalent to approximately US$ 5 million. The units are part of the Viceroy Residences Fort Lauderdale, a high-standard development under construction in South Florida.

The purchase gains even more significance due to its timing. Roberto Carlos is connected to the 2026 World Cup environment, a tournament that will have matches in South Florida, and the region is increasingly attracting international football names. According to American real estate press coverage, these properties are considered the first known assets of the former player in the United States, although he has been visiting Fort Lauderdale for years.

Viceroy Residences Fort Lauderdale will have 45 floors, 251 residences, and an urban resort structure

According to Elite Agent and the New York Post, the building where Roberto Carlos bought the two apartments will have 45 floors and 251 residences, with units ranging from one to four bedrooms. The project was developed by the Naftali Group, with sales conducted by Douglas Elliman, and was designed to position itself as one of the most ambitious luxury developments in the new phase of Fort Lauderdale.

The condominium includes more than 30,000 square feet of amenity areas, with a structure focused on the concept of a permanent resort. Among the spaces described by the specialized press are a full spa, resort-style pool, lounge, wine bar, karaoke room, virtual reality simulator room, beach club access, concierge, and social programming for residents. The building will also have a restaurant and private club operated by The h.wood Group, known for venues frequented by celebrities in Los Angeles.

The proposal of the development goes beyond the apartment itself. The Viceroy Residences tries to sell a complete package of service, location, leisure, international image, and lifestyle, exactly the type of product that has attracted global buyers to Fort Lauderdale instead of concentrating everything in Miami.

Roberto Carlos’s apartments are on high floors and will have views of the ocean, Intracoastal, and skyline

According to the New York Post, Roberto Carlos acquired a two-bedroom unit, with about 1,350 square feet of internal area and an additional terrace, as well as a second larger residence, with three bedrooms and about 1,850 square feet, also with a private terrace. The report states that the two properties together amount to approximately US$ 5 million and that the former player will stay on one of the highest floors of the tower.

The units were described as apartments with 10-foot ceilings, large windows, and views of the ocean, the Intracoastal Waterway, and the Fort Lauderdale skyline. The forecast informed by the American coverage is that the first deliveries will happen in 2030, within the current project schedule.

This detail helps explain why the purchase gained attention. It is not just a high-value real estate investment, but the entry of a historic name in world football into one of the most symbolic developments of the city’s new luxury phase.

Roberto Carlos intends to participate in the decoration of the properties and treats the purchase as something personal

According to the New York Post, Roberto Carlos intends to personally get involved in the interior design of the two apartments. This detail differentiates the acquisition from a purely financial purchase and suggests that the former player sees the project as something connected to his lifestyle in the United States, and not just as a patrimonial investment.

The statement attributed to the former full-back reinforces this interpretation. In the coverage published by the American press, he stated that Fort Lauderdale always seemed like a natural place for him, highlighting the design, privacy, lifestyle, and location of the development as decisive factors. The statement helps position the purchase less as a speculative opportunity and more as a choice of experience and personal presence in the region.

This type of involvement also has symbolic value for the market. When a buyer with the visibility of Roberto Carlos decides to participate in the creation of the environments, the property gains an additional layer of identity, something especially important in luxury developments aimed at a highly selective international audience.

Fort Lauderdale grows as a new luxury real estate hub for football stars

According to Elite Agent, Roberto Carlos’s purchase reinforces a broader trend of appreciation for Fort Lauderdale among athletes and global buyers. The movement has been intensifying as South Florida gains international exposure with the 2026 World Cup and consolidates an image of luxury less saturated than that of Miami.

In the assessment of Danielle Naftali, an executive at Naftali Group cited in the coverage, there is a clear shift in the behavior of high-end buyers, who have come to value not only the quality of the property but also experiences, lifestyle, and global connectivity. It is precisely this positioning that Viceroy tries to explore, and the arrival of Roberto Carlos serves as a direct reinforcement of this strategy.

In the end, the purchase of the two apartments shows how football, major sporting events, and the luxury real estate market are increasingly connected. Roberto Carlos, one of the most successful full-backs in history, chose precisely this scenario to make his new move off the field.
