The Offshore Assets of Búzios, Lula, and Sapinhoá Achieved an Average Production Representing About 87.1% of the Pre-salt in May of This Year
The average production from the fields of Búzios, Lula, and Sapinhoá, all located in the pre-salt, in May 2020, was 1.633 million barrels of oil per day and represents 87.1% of the total produced from the pre-salt, which amounted to 1.875 million barrels per day, according to information provided by Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A (PPSA).

The average production of the producing wells in the pre-salt layer in May 2020 was 16,896 barrels of oil per day and 21,291 barrels of oil equivalent per day, coming from 111 wells in stable production for the month.

According to data from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), compiled by PPSA, the six largest producing wells in the pre-salt in May 2020 belong to the Búzios fields with an average production of 42,111 barrels of oil per day and 49,424 barrels of oil equivalent per day excluding contaminant CO2.
The top 20 pre-salt producers in May 2020 belong to the Búzios fields (9 wells), Lula (5 wells), Iracema (4 wells), and Sapinhoá (2 wells), with an average production of 32,002 barrels of oil per day and 38,793 barrels of oil equivalent per day excluding contaminant CO2.
In the last 60 months, Brazil’s average oil production grew by 15%, the result of a 158% increase in pre-salt production and a 47% decline in post-salt production.
