In Zhengzhou, BYD Opens Automotive Park With Covered Dunes, Extreme Tracks, Ice Simulations, and Off-Road Areas to Promote Electric Vehicles

BYD has just inaugurated a complex that resembles an automotive amusement park in Zhengzhou, China. The new all-terrain circuit promises to change the way electric vehicles are tested and experienced, offering indoor sand dunes, race tracks, and even ice simulations.

The brand’s idea is to transform the space into a technological showcase while bringing the public closer to EV culture.

Structure Full of Attractions

The space features eight different and unconventional areas. Among them, there is a low grip ring for drifting and an emergency braking module.

There are also mountain trails for off-road, a racetrack over 1.7 km long, and even an exclusive pool for the Yangwang U8, an SUV capable of floating on water for up to 30 minutes.

The main highlight is the covered dune, certified by Guinness as the largest and tallest in the world for automotive testing.

With nearly 30 meters of vertical drop and a 28-degree slope, it has been designed to demonstrate the performance of EVs on extreme sandy terrains.

The visual resembles more of a rally challenge than a traditional testing space.

Extreme Simulations and Applied Technology

Another highlight is the circular track with a diameter of 44 meters built with basalt blocks. It is covered by a thin layer of water and serves to simulate the behavior of vehicles on frozen surfaces.

The goal is to place drivers in low-grip situations. BYD itself uses the space to showcase the operation of its intelligent suspension system, DiSus.

In addition, the main track features acceleration sections and sharp curves for those seeking speed. The paddock, with over 15,000 m², serves as a technology demonstration area, including automatic maneuvers and avoidance tests.

Off-Road and National Expansion

The mountain circuit offers 27 off-road scenarios designed for drivers of different skill levels.

The purpose is to show how the brand’s vehicles tackle hostile terrains without losing performance.

This is just the first of several planned complexes by the manufacturer. BYD has already confirmed that cities like Hefei and Shaoxing will have their own structures.

The Shaoxing site will be even larger, with 2,000 acres of area and an altitude of 500 meters.

A New Way to View Electric Vehicles

The company states that the goal is to make innovation tangible and accessible, enhancing the interaction between consumers and technology.

More than just tests, BYD wants to create a cultural experience around electric vehicles, showing that they not only replace combustion cars but also provide adventure and fun.

The question remains: will the United States, Europe, and Latin America follow suit and invest in similar spaces?
