The Multinational BYD Met with Representatives of the Government of Paraná to Plan a Possible New Electric Vehicle Factory in the State. The Investment Amount and Opening Forecast Have Not Yet Been Disclosed.
On Tuesday (10), in a meeting between Darci Piana, the Vice Governor of Paraná, and Tyler Li, the President of multinational BYD, along with other authorities, the installation of a future production unit focused on electric vehicles from the Chinese multinational in the state was discussed. The meeting took place at Palácio Iguaçu, located in Curitiba. The group, which is already operating in the national territory, plans to establish a new electric car factory in the country.
BYD Chooses Paraná to Install Its New Electric Vehicle Factory
Paraná is being considered to host a new factory that will produce controllers and motors for the electric vehicles of the multinational. Piana emphasizes that the state acts as an important logistics center and has great advantages for the installation of industries like BYD.
According to the Vice Governor, the company was shown the potential of the state, which is a central point within Mercosur and is being transformed by the government into a logistics center to meet the demands of all of South America. BYD is one of the largest multinationals, already operating in Brazil, including Paraná, and is now evaluating generating further investments in the state, with all the infrastructure they can provide.

Piana highlights that the government is in discussions with the company and plans to continue negotiations to formalize the installation of the new electric car factory in the state. The topic had already been addressed when BYD representatives made an initial visit and expressed interest in a unit in Campo Largo, the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, where the Stellantis plant was located, producing engines for FIAT.
BYD Speaks About New Factory in Paraná
According to Tyler Li, President of BYD, the company has been aware of Paraná for a long time, having an office and strong potential to invest in the state. Li emphasizes that the multinational BYD has received some information from Stellantis and will present it to its technical team from China, which will visit Brazil in February to evaluate the conditions and possibilities at the production unit.
In March, the multinational will provide an update. Ricardo Barros, State Secretary for Industry, Commerce, and Services, stated that there is great expectation from the government of Paraná regarding the attraction of the multinational. Barros highlights that it was possible to showcase the positive image of the state with the visit to Campo Largo and the meeting with government leadership to clarify all points of interest. Paraná has good business opportunities, with tax and logistical advantages, as well as skilled labor.
