BYD globally unveiled its new top-of-the-line model, the Sealion 08, establishing itself as the most advanced electric SUV in the Chinese automaker’s history.

The vehicle impresses with its performance figures, delivering a total power of 644 HP and a range that reaches 900 kilometers on a full charge. In addition to performance, the model introduces revolutionary charging technology, capable of completing the energy cycle in just nine minutes under ideal conditions.

The major competitive advantage of the Sealion 08 is its latest-generation electrical architecture, which allows for extremely fast recharges. Using ultra-powerful chargers, the SUV can recover most of its energy in unprecedented fractions of time for the luxury segment.

Advanced Safety and Intelligent Driving

The Sealion 08 focuses not only on power but also on a cutting-edge safety ecosystem called “God’s Eye B”.

The SUV comes equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, which acts as the central component for autonomous driving assistance systems. This constant monitoring technology allows the vehicle to identify obstacles and make preventive decisions in real-time, ensuring the protection of the seven passengers the cabin accommodates.

The seven-seat (2+3+2) internal layout was designed to cater to large families who do not compromise on luxury and technical sophistication. To enhance comfort, BYD integrated the intelligent body control system DiSus-A, which uses advanced air suspension instead of conventional springs.

The system automatically adjusts the vehicle’s stiffness and height, maintaining the stability of the 644 HP on different types of pavement and curves.

Market Positioning and Premium Competition

With the launch of the Sealion 08, the Chinese brand directly enters the territory of European and American luxury automakers. The model is positioned as a direct rival to vehicles such as the Tesla Model X and the top-of-the-line SUV versions from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

The use of numbers 8 and 9 in the nomenclature reflects BYD’s new hierarchy, reserved only for the most powerful and exclusive models in its global fleet.

Although pricing details have not yet been fully disclosed, the market awaits the start of commercial sales in the coming months. The expectation is that the model will arrive in the European market adapted as Sealion 8, maintaining the 644 HP configuration and luxury features. The launch marks a shift in the company’s design philosophy, adopting more aggressive and modern lines that accompany the technological evolution of its electric powertrains.
