Car That Floats on Water, Spins 380 Degrees and Has Over a Thousand Horsepower. It Seems Like Something from a Movie, Doesn’t It? But It Isn’t. These Are the Features of the Luxury Car Yangwang U8, the Most Expensive SUV in the World.
In the vehicle presentation, the Chinese company highlighted some points of the car that will be addressed in the article, such as the size, the luxurious design, and other topics like the horsepower, the possibility of floating the vehicle on water, and the vehicle’s ability to spin 380 degrees. Below you can check out some of the “absurdities” of the BYD Yangwang U8.
Over 1,000 Horsepower
Today, there are few SUVs in the world that can boast having engines with over a thousand horsepower. According to the company, the Yangwang U8 is one of them, as the model has a combustion engine only to generate energy for the 49.05 kWh battery pack. This, according to the company, is what’s called an extended-range electric.
The batteries of the Yangwang U8 power the four electric motors, which develop exactly 1,200 hp and 103.5 kgfm. With this, even though the vehicle weighs almost four tons, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds.

Frightened by the speed of Chinese manufacturers, Renault decided to mimic the pace, made the new electric Twingo in just 21 months, wants to repeat the feat with 36 models by 2030, and along the way, will cut up to 2,400 engineering positions.

Man pays only R$ 17,500 for a 2021 Hyundai Creta at auction, finds SUV covered in mud and with a stalled engine, but discovers the problem was much smaller than everyone imagined.

Cheaper than the JAC T60 Plus: with a 1.5 flex engine, 1.6 option with 138 hp, CVT-type automatic transmission, 360 camera, panoramic sunroof, and 10-inch central unit, this used Chinese SUV tries to convince those looking for a complete package: meet the JAC T40 Plus 2022.

Man spends 20,000 hours and 7 years building a functional wooden supercar with a Cadillac V8 engine, 20 types of wood, and a reported top speed of 320 km/h.
Car That Floats on Water
Another surprising point about the Yangwang U8 is its ability to float on water. That’s right. According to the manufacturer, the vehicle, even being quite heavy, can stay on the water like a boat for up to half an hour.
According to Yangwang, the car has the capability to detect floods and inundations. When this happens, its suspension is raised by a few centimeters, the air conditioning goes into recirculation mode, and all the windows are closed. With this system, the car can even “navigate” at a speed of up to 3 km/h on water.
Car That Spins 360 Degrees
As if the unique features were not enough, the Yangwang U8 can also spin completely. This happens because the model has a 2.0 turbo engine that serves as a generator for four electric motors mounted one over each wheel.
Since these motors are independent, the car can move forward and backward without any restriction from the other wheels. According to an article from the portal “Auto Esporte”, the 360° spin of the U8 wears the tires, especially in the outer area of the tread.
Yangwang U8 Arrives in Brazil in 2024
According to reports, the BYD Yangwang U8 is set to arrive in Brazil as the technological flagship of the Chinese brand. In the vehicle, in addition to the features presented throughout the article, there are 38 different sensors.
Not to mention, the Yangwang U8 includes two rear multimedia centers (one for each passenger), four-zone air conditioning, massagers for all occupants, and even hidden screens. Due to all these utilities, the expectation is that the Chinese car will arrive in Brazil costing over R$ 1 million.
