On October 9th of this month, Click Petróleo e Gás reported that Petrobras has finally concluded the sale of the Pargo, Carapeba, and Vermelho fields to Perenco.
On the last day, October 4th, after assessing the requested environmental studies, IBAMA granted the transfer of the LO (Operational License) of the project to the operator.
On November 28, 2018, Perenco signed, as part of Petrobras’ Divestment Plan, a purchase and operational transfer agreement for the mature fields of Pargo, Vermelho, and Carapeba (Polo Pargo), located in the Campos Basin.

BMP Ambiental was selected by Perenco to conduct the environmental studies and manage the licensing process, which was completed in about 3 months after the studies were submitted.
This type of licensing, which has a peculiar complexity, was carried out for the first time by IBAMA in another process also led by BMP Ambiental.
This licensing by Perenco is yet another success story for the company in handling licenses of this nature.
Benefits for a New Business
The work in synergy with the client and the environmental agency, combined with the quality of the studies conducted, was the key to this excellent result, which ensured not only the environmental license but also the safety for mature field projects to have their useful life extended, initiating a new offshore business model in Brazil.
The licensing achieved by Perenco and BMP Ambiental reinforces the competence and represents the realization of a business that is expected to grow significantly in Brazil, which is the revitalization of mature fields.
