The first global concept for cement-based rechargeable batteries emerges, thanks to the unique research from the Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. The vision can be a reality and change the world of renewable energy in civil construction.

The concept, which promises to revolutionize the world of civil construction, involves first a cement-based mixture, with small amounts of short carbon fibers added to increase conductivity and flexural strength. Then, embedded within the mixture is a carbon fiber mesh coated with metal – iron for the anode and nickel for the cathode. After much experimentation, this is the prototype that researchers present now.
