The Brazilian market for electric and hybrid cars sold 14,759 units in April 2025. This number indicates a growth of 2.6% compared to March, but a retraction of 2.9% compared to April of the previous year. Despite the monthly decline, the sector shows strength in the accumulated year’s total.
Overview Of The Electric And Hybrid Market In April 2025
In April 2025, 14,759 electric and hybrid cars were sold in Brazil. This volume represents an increase of 2.6% compared to March 2025, when 14,380 units were sold. However, in relation to April 2024, which had 15,206 registrations, there was a slight decline of 2.9%. The data is provided by the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE).
Despite the slight decrease in registrations in April, the balance for the first quadrimestre of 2025 is positive. From January to April, 54,683 electrified vehicles were sold, exceeding the volume recorded in the same period in 2024 by 6.6%, which was 51,296 units.

100% Electric Highlights (BEV): BYD Dolphin Mini Leads By A Wide Margin
In the segment of purely electric cars (BEV), April 2025 saw 4,702 registrations. The category remained led by the BYD Dolphin Mini, which recorded 2,177 units sold. Its bigger brother, the BYD Dolphin, came in second with 973 units, followed by the Volvo EX30 with 365. The GWM Ora 03 sold 191 units, and the BYD Seal sold 188. Completing the list of the top ten bestsellers were the BYD Yuan Pro with 177 units, Renault Kwid E-Tech with 116, BYD Yuan Plus with 81, JAC E-JS1 with 67, and the Porsche Macan with 41 units.
Hybrid Preference: BYD Song Pro At The Top Of The List
Among hybrid vehicles (HEV and PHEV), the standout in April 2025 was the BYD Song Pro, with 2,256 registrations. The Chinese SUV was closely followed by the GWM Haval H6, which achieved 1,813 sales in the month. The podium is completed by the BYD King, with 1,599 sales. Next, the Toyota Corolla Cross sold 951 units, while the BYD Song Plus recorded 856. The Toyota Corolla had 363 registrations, the Toyota RAV4, 211, and the Volvo XC60, 206. Tied with 161 units sold each were the GWM Tank 300 and the Volvo XC90.
BYD, GWM, And Toyota Lead Sales Of Electric And Hybrid Vehicles
When it comes to manufacturers, BYD Leads The Way in the sale of electric and hybrid cars in Brazil. In April alone, the Chinese brand registered 8,486 units. GWM, also from China, came in second with 2,331 registrations. Toyota secured third place, with 1,526 sales in the segment. Volvo sold 789 units, followed by BMW with 265, Porsche with 193, and Honda with 170. Mercedes-Benz sold 137 vehicles, Renault 123, and Caoa Chery rounded out the top 10 with 111 units.
