Changan’s electrified pickup combines extended range, 4×4 traction, fast charging, and use as a mobile generator, in a configuration that extends reach on long trips and brings the model closer to professional, rural, and recreational applications off the grid.
Changan Hunter K50 REEV launched the 2026 line in China with an unusual proposal among electrified pickups: primarily running on electric traction, extending range with a combustion engine used as a generator, and serving as a mobile power source for external equipment.
In June 2026, during the Chongqing International Auto Show, Changan Auto presented the pickup in ten versions, with official prices ranging from 141,900 to 178,900 yuan, according to Gasgoo, specialized in covering the Chinese automotive industry.
Due to its size, the model also draws attention compared to traditional rivals in the medium segment, as Changan in the Philippines reports 5.38 meters in length, 1.875 meters in height, and a wheelbase of 3.18 meters for the Hunter K50 REEV.

Extended range is the core of the proposal
In the mechanical set, the acronym REEV identifies an extended range electric vehicle, an architecture where the electric motors drive the wheels, while the combustion engine acts mainly as a generator to keep the battery charged.
In the international specifications, Changan announces for the Hunter K50 REEV a power of up to 268 hp, torque of 470 Nm in the 4×4 version, electric range of 180 km, and total range of up to 1,031 km.
In the 2026 Chinese line, Gasgoo reports an updated set, with a 2.0 turbo Blue Whale extended range system and electric motors capable of delivering 240 kW of maximum power, equivalent to about 326 hp.
This difference between the international numbers and the data of the line launched in China indicates that the Hunter K50 REEV may vary according to market, version, and local specification, without the data of one configuration automatically replacing those of another.
Larger batteries and fast charging
For the 2026 line, Changan structured two battery capacities, with a 31.18 kWh package in the entry configuration and a 43.47 kWh battery in the version with greater range announced in the Chinese market.
According to Gasgoo, the configuration with the longest range uses a CATL 2C battery developed for hybrid pickups, with an electric range of up to 192 km in the NEDC cycle and fast charging from 30% to 80% in 16 minutes.
With this arrangement, the proposal seeks to reduce one of the main barriers of pure electric vehicles in regions with limited infrastructure, as the driver can charge the battery at the outlet and resort to the generator on longer journeys.
4×4 Traction and Off-road Use
In terms of dynamics, the Hunter K50 REEV 2026 received an intelligent full-time all-wheel drive system, with force distribution regulated in milliseconds, in addition to ten driving modes, four scenario assistants, and five energy modes.
Among the features mentioned by Gasgoo are mountain mode, water crossing mode, tank turn function, and towing capacity, while acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds is noted as a performance figure.
Outside of China, Changan also highlights AWD traction, modes for snow, mud, sand, and off-road use, electronic differential locks, and a towing capacity of 2.5 tons, a package aimed at work, leisure, and rough terrains.
External Energy Expands Pickup Use
Besides the extended range, the Hunter K50 REEV bets on the external use of onboard energy, with a V2L output of up to 30 kW, simultaneous charge and discharge of 22 kW, a 3.3 kW panel in the bed, and two 220 V outlets.
This package allows powering heavy equipment, household appliances, and tools in areas far from the power grid, while the total energy reserve, according to Gasgoo, reaches 239 kWh, a volume sufficient to recharge about 103 agricultural drone batteries.
With this configuration, Changan attempts to position the pickup as a support platform for rural activities, construction, inspections, rescue, and outdoor operations, scenarios where available energy can weigh similarly to torque, traction, and load.
Technological Cabin and Global Focus
In the cabin, the Hunter K50 REEV follows the trend of electrified pickups with finishes closer to SUVs, including a central screen of 12.3 inches, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 540° camera, integrated 360° camera, and electronic stability control.
Even with this technological package, the model maintains typical truck construction and proposal, combining a double cabin, conventional bed, all-wheel drive in 4×4 versions, and solutions aimed at long journeys, external work, and regions with little recharging.
According to Gasgoo, the Hunter series has already been exported to 118 countries and regions and gathers more than 55 industrial users, but Changan has not yet confirmed the launch of the Hunter K50 REEV in Brazil.
