Registered in Brazil, hybrid BYD Song Plus is bigger than Jeep Compass and promises up to 1.200 km of range on a single tank of fuel

China's largest electric vehicle maker, BYD Auto, has also started manufacturing hybrid-powered vehicles such as the midsize SUV – Song Plus. Launched at an event in Chengdu last week, the BYD Song Plus features "new design, extreme power and unrivaled comfort". The vehicle, which promises to be a hybrid car, was registered in Brazil and could arrive in mid-2022.

From a styling point of view, the design team behind the SUV/hybrid – Song Plus, has given the vehicle an aesthetic called ¨Dragon Soul¨, which combines “the elegance of sedans with the powerful dynamism of SUVs”.

Song PLUS uses a 71,7 kWh blade-type battery with an energy density rating of 140 Wh/kg, equipped with liquid cooling and battery heating functions. Inside, the BYD Song Plus adopts a 'floating' design concept, a gradient interior finish that transitions between brown and black, as well as high-quality suede and other materials.

The automaker says the cabin is spacious and features second-row seats, “similar to business class seats,” with an optimal 28-degree backrest angle. Cargo volume is 574 liters with all seats in place or 1.477 liters with the rear seats folded down.

Power comes from the new 1.5TI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 182 HP (136 kW/185 PS) and 288 Nm (212 lb-ft) of torque. Power and torque are up 20% over the previous engine, while fuel consumption is down 15%, in part due to the new 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

When it comes to technology, the Song Plus hybrid SUV offers DiLink 3.0 intelligent network connection system with over-the-air remote upgrade function, an NFC key function for mobile phones to unlock the vehicle and control function. remote control built into the mobile phone app to move Song Plus in narrow spaces. 1.200 km of range on a single tank of fuel

In short, the BYD Song Plus DM-I uses a 1.5L naturally aspirated circular Atkinson engine with a heat efficiency of up to 43,04%, combined with the E-CVT transmission, plus two motors and a capacity of 8,3 kWh . Or a set of power systems consisting of 18,3 kW power batteries, with four types of drive patterns, parallel, direct and pure electric.

Under the hood, the hybrid versions of the BYD Song Plus bring a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine with 110 hp and 135 Nm associated with an electric motor. Together they offer a combined power of up to 198 hp and 325 Nm of torque.

The gearbox is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and the model also has a fully electric driving mode. The range is up to 110 km in the most powerful version and 51 km in the most affordable configurations. The manufacturer claims that the vehicle is capable of reaching 1.200 km when officially launched thanks to its new platform that promises autonomy of 1.000 km for entry-level cars.
