Registered In Brazil, Hybrid BYD Song Plus Is Larger Than Jeep Compass And Promises Up To 1,200 Km Of Range With A Single Tank Of Fuel
The largest electric vehicle manufacturer in China, BYD Auto, has also started manufacturing hybrid vehicles such as the midsize SUV – Song Plus. Launched at an event in Chengdu last week, the BYD Song Plus features “new design, extreme power, and unmatched comfort.” The vehicle, which promises to be a hybrid car, has been registered in Brazil and may arrive by mid-2022.

From a stylistic perspective, the design team behind the hybrid SUV – Song Plus, gave the vehicle an aesthetic called “Dragon Soul,” which combines “the elegance of sedans with the powerful dynamism of SUVs.”
The Song PLUS uses a 71.7 kWh blade-type battery with an energy density rate of 140 Wh/kg, equipped with liquid cooling and battery heating functions. Inside, the BYD Song Plus adopts a ‘floating’ design concept, a gradient interior finish that transitions from brown to black, as well as high-quality suede and other materials.

Power comes from a new 1.5TI turbo gasoline engine with four cylinders, producing 182 HP (136 kW/185 PS) and 288 Nm (212 lb-ft) of torque. Power and torque have increased by 20% compared to the previous engine, while fuel consumption has decreased by 15%, partly due to the new 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.
When it comes to technology, the hybrid SUV Song Plus offers the DiLink 3.0 smart network connection system with over-the-air remote update capability, an NFC key function for mobile phones to unlock the vehicle, and a mobile phone app integrated remote control function to maneuver the Song Plus in tight spaces. Prices in China range from $17,110 to $21,250, but it is known that the vehicle will arrive in the Brazilian market at a higher price.
1,200 Km Of Autonomy With A Single Tank Of Fuel
In summary, the BYD Song Plus DM-I uses a naturally aspirated Atkinson cycle 1.5L engine with a thermal efficiency of up to 43.04%, combining with the E-CVT transmission, plus two motors and a capacity of 8.3 kWh. Or a power system set consisting of 18.3 kW power batteries, with four types of drive patterns: parallel, direct, and pure electric.
Under the hood, the hybrid versions of the BYD Song Plus feature a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine producing 110 hp and 135 Nm paired with an electric motor. Together, they provide combined power of up to 198 hp and 325 Nm of torque.
The transmission is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and the model also has a fully electric driving mode. The range reaches up to 110 km in the higher trim and 51 km in the more affordable configurations. The manufacturer claims that the vehicle is capable of reaching 1,200 km when officially launched due to its new platform that promises a range of 1,000 km for entry-level cars.
