GWM’s industrial project in Espírito Santo advances with the forecast of thousands of jobs, expansion of the automotive chain, and strengthening of hybrid and electric vehicle production in Brazil. The new unit in Aracruz is expected to stimulate strategic sectors, attract suppliers, and expand the presence of the Chinese automaker in the national market.

GWM has begun accelerating preparations to set up a new factory in Aracruz, in the North of Espírito Santo, and is already working with the expectation of starting the first hires in the second half of 2026, according to information released by the state government.

In the Aracruz Industrial Park, in the Barra do Riacho region, the future unit of the Chinese automaker will be implemented in an area of approximately 1.7 million square meters, considered strategic due to its proximity to logistical corridors and port structures.

During the first phase of the project, the trend is for a gradual opening of vacancies mainly focused on civil construction, earthworks, land preparation, and services related to the implementation of the company’s industrial structure.

According to the state Secretary of Development, Rogério Salume, the progress of the works should determine the pace of admissions, while the government’s initial estimate points to the creation of 1,500 to 3,500 jobs in this stage alone.

Despite the movement involving technical studies and frequent visits by company representatives to Espírito Santo, the automaker reported that it has not yet officially started the selection process for the unit in Espírito Santo.

So far, there is also no confirmation of company executives residing permanently in the state, although teams linked to the project are already conducting operational surveys in the region.

GWM should prioritize local labor in Aracruz

Initially, the hires should include professionals linked to the areas of construction, engineering, implementation logistics, and specialized services, sectors considered essential to enable the construction of the automaker’s new industrial plant.

With the advancement of the factory’s planned schedule, the state government’s expectation is that new vacancies will be opened later for technical, administrative, industrial maintenance, automotive production, and factory operation roles.

According to the Espírito Santo Executive, the intention is to prioritize local workers and regional suppliers whenever there are professionals available to meet the demands required by GWM’s operation expansion in Aracruz.

In addition to boosting the job market, the project is also expected to increase economic activity in neighboring municipalities, especially in the service provision, infrastructure, and operational support segments for the future industrial unit.

In recent months, representatives of the Chinese automaker have intensified technical visits to Espírito Santo to monitor studies related to the feasibility of the factory and the necessary conditions for implementing the structure planned in the project.

While engineers conducted analyses in the area designated for the enterprise, teams linked to the human resources sector began searching for properties to accommodate professionals involved in the initial stages of the factory’s installation.

GWM’s Expansion in Brazil Includes New Factory in Espírito Santo

As part of GWM’s expansion strategy in the Brazilian market, the unit planned for Aracruz is part of an investment package estimated at R$ 10 billion in Brazil by 2032, focusing on expanding national production.

Officially presented by the Espírito Santo government in February 2026, the project gained momentum after a series of negotiations involving representatives of the Chinese automaker and members of the state administration.

In January 2026, during an official mission to China, the Espírito Santo government signed a memorandum of understanding with the company to advance discussions related to the implementation of the future factory in the state.

On the occasion, Vice Governor Ricardo Ferraço stated that the initiative has a strategic character for regional development and highlighted the potential for job creation when the plant reaches its maximum operational capacity.

According to estimates released by the state government, the complete operation could generate up to 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, considering industrial activities, outsourced services, and the movement of the automotive chain associated with the enterprise.

In addition to the manufacturing structure, the unit is expected to connect to the ParklogBR/ES logistics system, located in an area considered strategic due to its proximity to industrial hubs, transportation corridors, and port operations.

To allow the advancement of the industrial project, the perimeter designated for the enterprise was declared of public utility by the Espírito Santo government in a decree published at the beginning of 2026.

Production of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles Expected to Grow

More than just a structure intended for vehicle assembly, the GWM project in Espírito Santo foresees a broader industrial operation, incorporating different production stages within the future Aracruz unit.

Among the processes planned for the factory are stamping, welding, painting, and final assembly activities, forming an industrial chain considered more complete compared to smaller-scale traditional automotive operations.

According to data released by the state government and specialized sector publications, the plant’s capacity could reach up to 200,000 vehicles per year when all planned phases are fully operational.

Currently, GWM already has an industrial operation in Brazil with the Iracemápolis factory, located in the interior of São Paulo and officially inaugurated in 2025 as the company’s first unit in the Americas.

The São Paulo plant marked the beginning of the Chinese automaker’s strategy to nationalize production, aiming to increase local vehicle manufacturing and reduce dependence on imported models to supply the Brazilian market.

With the future installation in Aracruz, the company intends to expand its industrial presence in the country and strengthen the electrified vehicle segment, a market that has been steadily growing in Brazil in recent years.

Today, the brand operates nationally with hybrid and electric models, a segment that has been increasing its share in the Brazilian automotive industry due to the growing demand for lower-emission technologies.

When the positions at GWM’s new factory will be opened

So far, GWM has not officially announced the positions for the future factory in Espírito Santo, although the state government is already working with the expectation of gradually opening opportunities throughout the next stages of the project.

According to guidance provided by state authorities, interested parties should follow the company’s official channels, as well as social media and recruitment platforms used by the automaker for future selections.

The effective start of hiring will depend on the progress of technical stages such as topographical surveys, soil surveys, environmental licensing, earthworks, and complete preparation of the area reserved for industrial implementation.

Initially, the demand tends to be concentrated in professionals related to construction, infrastructure, and heavy construction areas, sectors considered fundamental to enable the installation of the factory.

Later on, as the factory operation approaches, the expectation is to open opportunities focused on logistics, industrial maintenance, production management, and activities directly related to the automotive sector.

In addition to the impact on the job market, the arrival of GWM is also expected to increase the movement of suppliers and service companies in Aracruz and nearby cities in the northern region of Espírito Santo.

Industrial projects of this magnitude typically require support for transportation, food, lodging, technical maintenance, property security, industrial cleaning, and specialized administrative services throughout the operation.

Even with the progress of negotiations and technical studies, details related to the definitive construction schedule and the official opening of applications still depend on new internal stages of the Chinese automaker.

Considered one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in China, GWM currently operates in over 150 countries and has been expanding its international presence through investments aimed at the electrified vehicle market.

In Brazil, the company’s industrial advancement occurs amid the growing competition between traditional brands and Asian automakers in the hybrid and electric car segment, a sector that continues to expand in the country.
