Petrobras starts internship selection with openings in different regions of the country, benefits for university students, and a new inclusion model aimed at increasing female participation and underrepresented groups in strategic areas of the energy, technology, engineering, and science industries.
With around 150 openings for higher education students, the Petrobras Student Internship Program 2026 will be conducted in units spread across 12 Brazilian states and also in the Federal District, with applications open between May 21 and June 3, 2026.
For the first time in the company’s history, 30% of the opportunities will be reserved exclusively for women, while the announcement also guarantees quotas of 10% for people with disabilities and 30% for black, mixed-race, indigenous, and quilombola people.
In addition to the experience in one of the largest companies in the energy sector in the country, the selected students will receive a monthly stipend of R$ 1,825, transportation allowance of R$ 15 per in-person day, personal accident insurance, and paid leave as provided by law.

The program will also include a learning path with courses and training offered by Petrobras University, the company’s internal structure aimed at the technical and professional development of participants.
Who can participate in the Petrobras internship
Students regularly enrolled in public or private higher education institutions recognized by the Ministry of Education can participate, provided they meet the requirements defined in the announcement released by Petrobras.
The expected workload will be 20 hours per week, distributed from Monday to Friday, without creating an employment relationship with the company, as the program is exclusively aimed at the academic and professional training of participants.
As informed by the company, the internship may occur in a hybrid model, depending on the activities performed and the operational needs of each unit, while students with disabilities may opt for full telework in compatible roles.
The openings include courses such as Business Administration, Law, Systems Analysis, Library Science, Biology, Data Science, Actuarial Science, Accounting, Economics, Nursing, Journalism, Marketing, Oceanography, and Public Relations.
There are also opportunities for different Engineering fields, including Environmental, Civil, Computing, Control and Automation, Petroleum, Production, Telecommunications, Electrical, Mechanical, Naval, and Chemical.
Geophysics and Geology complete the list of accepted fields in the process.
Cities with openings in the Petrobras Internship Program 2026
The vacancies are distributed across Petrobras units in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Espírito Santo, Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Pernambuco, Sergipe, Ceará, Amazonas, and the Federal District.
Among the municipalities informed by the company are Rio de Janeiro, Macaé, Duque de Caxias, Itaboraí, São Paulo, Santos, Cubatão, São José dos Campos, Paulínia, Mauá, Vitória, Brasília, Canoas, Salvador, Camaçari, Betim, Ipojuca, Araucária, São Mateus do Sul, Aracaju, Laranjeiras, Fortaleza, and Manaus.
The Director of Corporate Affairs at Petrobras, Clarice Coppetti, stated that the selection aims to increase the presence of underrepresented groups in the energy industry, especially in areas related to science, technology, and mathematics.
“Through this selection process, we reaffirm our commitment to encouraging the presence of women and black people in STEM careers and increasing the presence of underrepresented groups in the energy industry,” said the executive, according to Petrobras’ release.
How the online test for the Petrobras internship will be
The selection will have an online objective test with 60 questions, applied between May 21 and June 3, 2026.
The assessment will be divided into six blocks, with 10 questions on Portuguese Language, general knowledge, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, Technologies, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, as well as knowledge about Petrobras.
Immediately after completing the registration, the candidate will be able to take the test within the timeframe defined in the schedule.
The final classification will be established after the online stage, according to the participants’ performance and the rules provided in the notice.
Petrobras emphasized that the internship program is not a public contest and does not represent hiring for a permanent position.
The company also informed that there is no open contest at the moment nor a forecast for a new public selection process for permanent employees.

Applications must be made from May 21 to June 3, 2026, through the Petrobras internship page.
The notice was published on May 11, 2026, and the final result is scheduled for June 24, 2026, according to the official schedule of the 2026 Student Internship Program.
