BYD has officially announced the launch of its BYD Tan model in the national automotive market. The 7-seat electric SUV, which will kick off the Chinese company’s offensive of electric cars in Brazil, is already available for pre-sale and will begin deliveries in the first half of next year. Sold in China and also in Norway, the BYD Tan is yet another model that draws on the company’s experience with electric cars across various sectors.

BYD Electric SUV Has 517 Horsepower
The BYD Tan can be charged up to 80% in just 30 minutes at a 110 kW fast charging station, thanks to its 86.4 kWh battery with new technology. Its combined range is 437 km in exclusive urban use and 395 km on the highway.
The new electric SUV from BYD features two electric motors, one on each axle, with 245 hp in the front and 272 hp in the rear, delivering a combined power of 517 horsepower and a maximum torque of 69.4 kgfm. Thus, the BYD Tan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 186 km/h.

The model was designed in accordance with the latest design language from the Chinese company. In terms of style, BYD’s international design team, led by Wolfgang Egger, a renowned designer and former head of design at Audi, attempted to combine European design with Eastern heritage, ensuring an aggressive and imposing design for the electric SUV.
State-of-the-Art Equipment and Technologies
The electric car, like more recent vehicles from the brand, features 3D effect taillights and full LED headlights, large 22-inch alloy wheels, among other details. Additionally, the new vehicle in the Brazilian automotive market measures 4.87 meters in length, 1.95 m in width, and 1.72 m in height, providing ample interior space with a wheelbase of 2.82 m.
In the cabin, the Chinese company opted for a buttonless design in the BYD Tan. Therefore, most functions, including air conditioning and navigation system, are centralized in the multimedia system, which has a large 15.6” floating screen that can be used both vertically and horizontally.
The newest electric vehicle on the Brazilian automotive market features a panoramic glass roof, synthetic leather seats, a soft-touch dashboard, electric seats with ventilation and heating, dual-zone air conditioning with an ionizer and purification system, wireless charging for phones, and many more.
The New Electric SUV Will Be a Strong Competitor to the Audi E-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, Mercedes EQC 400, Porsche Cayenne Hybrid, and Volvo XC40 Electric Models
At the presentation, BYD stated that the new model in the automotive market would compete with leading available SUVs, such as the Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, Mercedes EQC 400, Porsche Cayenne Hybrid, and Volvo XC40 Electric.
According to the brand, the model’s sales will begin in Brazil starting in the first half of next year. BYD also announced plans to establish a network of dealerships with 35 points of sale spread throughout Brazil by the end of 2022.
Available in blue, red, white, gray, and black, the BYD Tan can already be pre-reserved on the BYD website and has an 8-year warranty on the batteries and a 5-year warranty on the vehicle.
