With New Taxiway, Aircraft Apron, and Parking Spaces, the Works at Santa Rosa Airport Tend to Increase Regional Traffic.
Santa Rosa Airport, located in Rio Grande do Sul, is about to make a significant leap in terms of infrastructure.
Last Wednesday, the 29th, the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, signed the Service Order authorizing the start of the modernization works at Luís Alberto Lehr Aerodrome, marking a crucial moment for regional aviation and impacting the entire surrounding community.
The Impact of Modernization Works
This initiative is part of the Growth Acceleration Program (Novo PAC) and is a strategic effort by the Federal Government to strengthen air connectivity in the country.

According to Minister Silvio Costa Filho, the expansion of Santa Rosa Airport not only modernizes the infrastructure but also has a direct impact on the local economy.
“This project represents a significant advancement for the state, improving regional aviation and generating new job and income opportunities, as well as stimulating tourism,” the minister stated.
With the works, the airport will feature a more robust infrastructure, capable of accommodating larger aircraft, such as those that can carry up to 150 passengers.
This will provide greater connectivity between Santa Rosa and other cities in Brazil, as well as facilitate the flow of tourists and business to the region.

Improvements at the Airport
The modernization project includes a series of essential improvements.
The main one is the extension of the runway, which will be expanded from 1,200 meters to 1,630 meters, allowing the airport to accommodate larger aircraft with higher passenger capacity.
In addition, a new taxiway will be constructed along with an aircraft apron.
The security area will also be expanded, with new paved and unpaved areas totaling 1,930 meters in length.
Another important aspect of the project is the installation of drainage systems, new air navigation aids, construction of operational fencing, and the requalification of the access road to the airport, ensuring greater safety and efficiency for passenger traffic and air operations.
New parking spaces will also be created to meet the growing demand.
Benefits for the Community and the Region
In addition to physical improvements at the airport, the modernization works will also have a significant impact on the economic development of Santa Rosa and neighboring municipalities.
Mayor Anderson Mantei emphasized that every real invested in the works and federal resources will be well allocated, creating a solid foundation for sustainable growth in the region.
He believes that improvements at the airport will lower airfares and open doors for new business opportunities, in addition to promoting tourism and boosting the local economic sector.
The new infrastructure will be an attraction for companies looking to expand their operations in the region, offering more efficient logistics and connectivity with other parts of Brazil and the world.
For the residents of the region, the works mean more accessibility and the possibility of cheaper flights, which expands transportation and travel options.
The Importance of Modernization in the National Context
The modernization of Santa Rosa Airport is also aligned with the goals of the National Aviation Plan (PAN), which aims to improve Brazil’s air infrastructure to enhance the country’s competitiveness in the global arena.
The project is another step to ensure that Brazil has a modern airport network capable of meeting the growing demand for regional flights.
