The Government of Minas Gerais Completes Works at State Schools in Curvelo and Morro da Garça with Investments of R$ 1.5 Million. Improvements Ensure More Safety and Quality in Education.
The Government of Minas delivered, last Friday, the 9th, important revitalization works at two state schools in the Central-West region of Minas Gerais. With an investment of around R$ 1.5 million, the interventions are part of the Mãos à Obra na Escola program, coordinated by the State Department of Education of Minas Gerais (SEE/MG).
The schools benefited were Prefeito Walter Coelho da Rocha, in Morro da Garça, and Antonina Mascarenhas Gonzaga, in Curvelo. The improvements aim to ensure adequate infrastructure, comfort, and safety for students and staff of the state network.
Works at Schools Expand Comfort and Safety
In Morro da Garça, the Prefeito Walter Coelho da Rocha State School underwent a transformation. With an investment of R$ 679 thousand, the unit received:

- Structural reform with treatment of cracks in slabs, walls, and fences;
- Roof repairs and modernization of bathrooms and administrative areas.
In Curvelo, the Antonina Mascarenhas Gonzaga State School benefited from over R$ 790 thousand applied in three fronts:
- Emergency renovation of the kitchen, bathrooms, secretariat, and computer lab (R$ 498 thousand);
- Reconstruction of the school’s dividing wall;
- Expansion of the changing rooms with access cover, financed through parliamentary amendment.
Education as a Priority in the Government of Minas
The State Secretary of Education, Igor de Alvarenga, emphasized the direct impact of the works on the school community:
“It is very gratifying for us to reach the municipalities and see the completed works and the school community benefiting from these improvements. The main objective of the Secretariat is precisely this: to provide quality education for all miners.”
Mãos à Obra nas Escolas Program Has Already Invested Over R$ 1.6 Billion
Created in 2019, Mãos à Obra nas Escolas is the largest educational infrastructure program in the history of Minas Gerais. Since its launch:
- 5,723 works have been executed;
- In 2,496 institutions;
- Spread across 728 municipalities in Minas;
- With a total investment exceeding R$ 1.6 billion.
