The Post Office Union Is Upset With The Announcement Of 3,468 Positions In The Post Office Contest, Claiming That The Number Is Insufficient To Cover The Large Deficit Of Employees. Check Out The Details Of The Controversy
After more than a decade of waiting, the Post Office has finally announced the holding of a new public contest, with the definition of the Brazilian Institute of Training and Qualification (IBFC) as the organizing body. The contest provides for the offering of 3,468 positions, with 3,099 intended for intermediate-level positions and 369 for higher-level positions, with salaries that can reach up to R$ 6,800. Despite the importance of the announcement, the Interfederational Federation of Unions of Postal Workers (FINDECT) expressed dissatisfaction with the number of positions offered. According to the union, the total number of positions is insufficient to cover the significant labor deficit that the company faces, accumulated over 13 years without the holding of public contests.

Distrust Among Workers
In a statement released this Thursday (12), FINDECT also criticized the delay in finally announcing the contest. During this period, the postal workers dealt with an increased workload, resulting from the lack of staff replacement, which led to the degradation of working conditions and a growing distrust regarding the company’s commitments.

The promise of new hires was one of the central issues of the 2023 Collective Bargaining Agreement. However, the late announcement of the organizing body and the number of positions made available left the category on alert. For the workers, the scenario generates uncertainties about the real implementation of the promised hires for December 2024.
FINDECT Warns Of The Need For Recomposition Of The Workforce
The Post Office has faced a significant employee deficit since the last contest held in 2011. The union warns that the number of positions announced will not be sufficient to cover this shortfall, which could further impair the quality of services provided to the public, in addition to overburdening the workers who remain active.
FINDECT emphasizes that the recomposition of the workforce is essential not only to improve working conditions but also to ensure the operational efficiency of the company. With the removal of the Post Office from the privatization list by the current government, the expectation is that the company will invest in long-term solutions to strengthen its services and meet the demands of society.
However, the category remains cautious. The history of unfulfilled promises and inconsistencies in the negotiations of the 2023 collective agreement reinforce the feeling of distrust among workers. FINDECT and the affiliated unions remain vigilant, demanding that the company fulfill its commitments and increase the number of positions to ensure an adequate workforce.
The fight for a robust public contest that meets the real needs of the company and its workers continues to be one of the union’s main banners.
