The Ministry of Labor Launched the Digital Work Card (CTPS), a New App for Android or iPhone, Available to Brazilian Workers Starting November 21.
The Digital Work Card (CTPS) can be issued by any worker, Brazilian or foreign, electronically, by providing their CPF number. This number replaces the number of the physical Labor and Social Security Card (CTPS), although the digital card does not serve as civil identification for any person. The Brazilian economy created 173,139 formal job openings.
The digital work card (CTPS) does not bring any changes to workers’ rights. It merely creates an electronic mechanism for recording their activities, replacing the old card and fulfilling all its functions.

All formal work experiences, both current and previous, will be available in the app. It is about modernizing access to information and professional data.
It is important, however, that the physical CTPS not be discarded by the worker, as it may be useful for proving links to previous jobs.
The goal is to make life easier for workers who will have the document at hand whenever they need to make an inquiry. Thus, the worker hired by an employer who does not yet use this system must present their physical CTPS.
To download the app, access the download link on Android or on iPhone. Great care must be taken with search results from your smartphone’s app store, especially on the Android operating system.
Unfortunately, there are many apps posing as Digital Work Cards and they may hide threats to steal your information. When in doubt, download via the link provided above.
How to Access the Digital Work Card?
Access https://servicos.mte.gov.br. Then, the page for the worker to register will appear. Just click the blue button “I Want to Register”.
Does the worker have to pay to activate the digital work card? No, it is free.
Does it change the card number? Since the digital card uses the CPF as the key number, the number of the paper document will not appear on the document.
What changes for companies? Companies that use eSocial will no longer need to make entries in the paper card or even fill out the digital card.
And what about companies that do not use eSocial? In those cases, recording in the paper work card remains mandatory.
Can someone who lost their paper work card request the digital one anyway? Yes, through the CTPS Digital app or online (www.gov.br/trabalho).
What to do if you cannot activate? The worker can go to their bank, to the ATMs of Caixa or Banco do Brasil or to one of the units of the Ministry of Economy.
