Macaé, The Princess of The Atlantic, Reduces ICMS to 2% and Attracts Interests from Major Multinationals, Generating Jobs in The City!
The week started with great news for Macaé! Continental, one of the most important manufacturers of tires and automotive parts in the world, is transferring its operations from its São Paulo factory and moving its hose manufacturing operation to its headquarters in Macaé (RJ) and Ponta Grossa (PR), although its branch in SP still remains. The new business model with an expansion projection for the production plant installed in the municipality promises to create many job openings!
The good news led the city’s mayor Welberth Rezende and his municipal entourage to visit the factory of the German multinational, where they were warmly received by the president of Continental in South America, Frederic Senagaglia, along with the Plant Manager of the company in Macaé, Denis Escudeiro.

Continental Factory Was Inaugurated in Macaé in 2014 to Serve The Oil and Gas Industry
The Continental factory was inaugurated in Macaé in 2014, starting its operations with the production of hoses used in the operations of the oil and gas industry, which are exported to countries in South America and the United Arab Emirates.
To serve new markets such as agribusiness, the German multinational started this year the production of composite hoses and PVC drainage, and according to Denis Escudeiro, the company’s new business strategy promises to create new jobs for the city. “We are going through a growth process of our plant in Macaé. The partnership with the city hall is essential to ensure our investments,” Denis explained.
In addition to producing composite hoses and PVC drainage at its Macaé factory, Continental also presented the project for the expansion of the production plant, a strategy highlighted by the president of Continental in South America.
“We have always believed in the potential of Macaé and, despite the challenges, we persisted until reaching this moment of defining a new business model that represents the expansion of our operations in the city,” stated Frederic Senagaglia.
It is worth noting that the reduction of ICMS in Macaé from 18% to 2%, resulting from our efforts with Governor Cláudio Castro and also at the Alerj is attracting companies and businesses to the city.
