The Green Briquette Factories of Mineradora Vale in Espírito Santo Will Be the First Two in the World. This Operation Offers Job Openings for Mechanics, Electro-Electronics, Instrumentation, Integrated Control, Electricians, and Instrumentation Techs
The mining company Vale recently announced that by the end of the first half of 2023, it will inaugurate the first green briquette factory in the world in the state of Espírito Santo. In light of the company’s new operation, job openings to work at the units have been offered since October 20, eight months before the inauguration of the factories.
According to A Gazeta, the green briquette is a new type of ore agglomerate, raw material for steel production. Its differentiator is that it promises to require less energy from steel mills.
According to Rodrigo Ruggiero, director of Pelletizing at mineradora Vale, there will be two briquette plants, one expected to start operations in the first half and the other at the end of 2023. The director informed that the company chose to make the hires in advance as it is a new process, allowing them to train the teams for the operation.

China surprises the world with the discovery of a “supergiant” deposit valued at US$ 85.9 billion, containing over 1,000 tons of gold at a depth of 2,000 meters and an impressive concentration of 138 grams per ton of rock.
There are 60 job openings at the mining company for technicians in mechanics, electro-electronics, instrumentation, integrated control, electricians, and instrumentation techs. Additionally, around 80 opportunities are being offered for participants of the Professional Training Program, in partnership with Senai. In total, about 180 job vacancies will be filled for the operation of the plants, with the remaining opportunities already filled.
The mining company estimates that the green briquettes will reduce greenhouse gas emissions in steel production by up to 10%. The new product allows steel mills to decrease their reliance on sintering, which occurs at 1,300 degrees Celsius and requires intensive use of fossil fuels. With the green briquette, there is no combustion; instead, there is curing at a temperature of 200° to 250°, requiring less energy in the process.
The two briquette factory plants are being built in Tubarão, in the state of Espírito Santo, in place of pelletizing plants 1 and 2. The investment will be US$ 182 million and they will have the capacity to produce 6 million tons of briquettes per year.
