With the aim of strengthening primary care and expanding access to complementary therapies, the Ministry of Health has launched a series of free online courses (EAD) on Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (PICS). Available on the AVASUS platform, the qualifications are available open for subscriptions for three different formations.

Among the free online courses offered, the “Qualification Course for Health Professionals in the Application of Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapeutics in Wound Treatment” stands out. With a workload of 140 hours, the course covers 36 types of medicinal plants and phytotherapeutics aimed at integrated wound care. The training is aimed at health professionals, managers and others interested in the subject.

Two other options available are:

  • “Introduction to Integrative and Complementary Practices in Health: Music Therapy”, with 60 hours, which presents the foundations of the therapeutic use of music;
  • “Introduction to Integrative and Complementary Health Practices: Flower Therapy”, with 100 hours, which explores the use of flower essences to promote self-care and well-being.

There is also “Module II – Qualification Course in Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapeutics in Primary Health Care”, with a workload of 60 hours, aimed at deepening knowledge about natural pharmacology.

Integrative and complementary practices

Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (PICS) have been officially integrated into the SUS since 2006 and currently encompass 29 therapeutic approaches, including phytotherapy, music therapy and flower therapy. These practices act as a complement to traditional clinical treatments, promoting a more holistic approach to health.

The AVASUS platform also offers training in areas such as yoga, meditation, aromatherapy and self-massage, strengthening access to knowledge about complementary therapies and expanding the care options available in the public health system.
