Proposal Aims to End the Famous Taxation on Blouses and Allow Purchases of Up to R$ 3,482 on Sites Like Shopee, AliExpress, and Shein Without Paying a Single Cent in Tax. This Changes Everything!
If you’ve already given up on buying from Shopee because of the taxation, it’s time to reconsider your choices! A new bill presented by federal deputy Dani Cunha promises to shake up Brasília and finally eliminate the abusive taxation that makes international purchases more expensive.
We are talking about a proposal that seeks to allow up to R$ 3,482 per year (equivalent to US$ 600) in international purchases WITHOUT ANY TAXATION! That’s right: no 50%, no 100%, no surprises when receiving the order!
The People Pay, the Rich Don’t? This Could Change Now!
Today, those who travel abroad can bring back up to US$ 1,000 in purchases without paying tax. But those who buy online, like the average Brazilian, pay taxation even on a R$ 40 headphone! Is that fair?

R$ 1.9 billion for 59 bathrooms, spa, medical clinic, and 6,500 m²: most expensive mansion ever listed in the US goes on sale in Bel-Air
Dani Cunha’s bill aims to end this absurdity and create an annual exemption of US$ 600 per individual. Thus, the worker who just wants to save on purchasing clothing, electronics, or accessories would finally have some relief in their pocket!
Post Office at the Center of the Game — and Turning Profitable Again!
Another key point of the proposal is to involve the Post Office in the operation. The idea is simple: if purchases are made and transported by the state-owned company, consumers can buy up to the proposed limit without paying a single cent in taxation.
In other words: besides helping the people, the project could also make the Post Office profitable again. It’s a masterstroke!
And How Much Does Taxation Cost Today?
Today, the situation is more complicated. The so-called taxation works like this:
- Purchases below US$ 50: 50% tax.
- Purchases above US$ 50: 100% tax!
Bought R$ 350 on an international site? You’ll pay an additional R$ 350 in tax. Isn’t that outrageous?
Project Is Already in the Chamber and Needs Your Support
Bill 1440/2025 is already filed in the Chamber of Deputies and awaits the dispatch from the president of the House, Hugo Motta. If it depends on bureaucracy, it could simply gather dust there. But if public pressure increases, the game changes!
And that’s where you come in!
It’s already possible to vote on the Chamber’s website to show support for the proposal. So far, 94% of votes have been in favor of the measure — and that number is likely to grow.
It’s Not Perfect, but It’s a Start Against Absurd Taxation
Of course, the project has limitations: the exemption is annual and only for individuals. But compared to what we have today, it’s already a tremendous advancement in the fight against oppressive taxation that suffocates those who just want to consume freely.
The deputy argues that the current system creates a clear social imbalance: the wealthy traveler has exemptions, while the poor online shopper is punished. With the new proposal, the game begins to change!
And how about you? Do you support ending the taxation on international purchases? Comment below because your opinion matters in this battle!
