However, it is important to note that both courses are introductory and do not qualify participants to offer these therapeutic practices in health services. For that, additional professional training will be necessary, as governed by the councils of each category.
In this regard, Paulo Rocha, manager of the National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices in SUS (PNPIC), explains that “managers, health professionals, technicians, SUS service coordinators, and any interested citizens can register” for the courses.
Additionally, he emphasizes that “Pics integrate the physical, emotional, mental, and social aspects of the individual, expanding care strategies in health” and that these practices help professionals better understand the health-disease relationship and encourage self-care.
Reflexology: The Power of Feet and Hands
Reflexology, also known as reflexotherapy, is based on the principle that the body is traversed by meridians that divide it into different regions, each reflected in specific points on the feet and hands.
By massaging these key points, it is possible to reactivate homeostasis and balance in the body areas where there are blockages. Did you know that the soles of the feet have over 72,000 nerve endings?
The reflexology course, lasting 40 hours, details this practice, discusses PNPIC and other relevant aspects, and includes videos, interviews, texts, case studies, practical activities, and optional assessments.
Meditation: A Path to Well-Being
Meditation, on the other hand, is an ancient practice present in various cultures and traditions, with scientifically proven benefits for physical, mental, and emotional health. Meditating can harmonize mood, improve cognitive performance, and reduce stress.
The meditation course, also lasting 40 hours, addresses the experiences of Pics in SUS, discusses PNPIC, and delves into the concepts and studies about the practice. The materials include texts, videos, interviews, case studies, practical activities, and optional assessments.
Both courses were structured to provide a comprehensive and in-depth view of integrative practices, promoting a better understanding of the benefits and applications for both health professionals and the general public.
