EDP Smart intends to invest BRL 300 million annually in solar energy in Brazil
The Portuguese EDP's investment plans go from sunrise to sunset. Through EDP Smart, the company intends to triple its participation in the solar energy sector in Brazil from the current R$ 100 million to R$ 300 million per year, which will represent 38% of the Brazilian electricity matrix by 2050. Currently, the company has 29 MWp of installed capacity in the country and 59 MWp in sold projects.
According to Carlos Andrade, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at EDP, Brazil is a place in the world with the greatest potential for growth in the solar energy sector.
"We want to be close to the end customer, both for companies and individuals and we are going to invest in centralized generation as well", commented the executive, noting that the company is not interested in offering energy for the system as a whole, but for the end customer, as commerce, industry and together with EDP Renováveis.
For the B2B segment, the company seeks long-term contracts, between 10 and 15 years. “It is important to establish a long-term relationship with our customers”, said the executive.
