Electra Developed A Line Of Electric Bicycles Focused On Urban Environments. One Of The Models, Called Loft Go 7D, Can Reach 32 Km/h And Offers Above-Average Range.
Trek Bicycles, a company that became famous in the 90s for its beach bikes, created the American brand Electra, which this year has set aside the sand to focus entirely on urban mobility markets. To achieve this, Electra developed a new line of electric bicycles called Loft Go, which currently includes two models, one of which is the Loft Go 7D, which the manufacturer claims is a lighter and faster solution for navigating the city.
Loft Go 7D Delivers 64 Km Of Range
This Electra model is equipped with a 250 W rear hub motor, although the model has not been disclosed. To avoid heavy traffic, the electric bicycle reaches speeds of about 32 km/h.
Although not many details about the battery have been disclosed, the estimate is that the range is 64 km per charge, which is in line with what people typically travel daily in their cars, according to company data. There is also a 7-speed Shimano transmission system and a torque sensor that balances the motor’s power according to the cyclist’s pedaling. Right off the bat, it is clear that the electric bicycle was designed to appeal to more buyers.

Breaking away from the modern design of competitors, the e-bike features a more retro look, inspired by bicycles of the past with thinner forks and seats. Additionally, all wires are hidden within the design. The robust lower tube also serves to conceal the model’s batteries, something that can also be seen in other electric bicycles.
Electra Electric Bicycle Can Carry Up To 136 Kg
An interesting accessory for the Step-Over is a type of luggage rack that can be attached to the electric bicycle, an extra feature that allows the owner to carry their belongings more securely. Moreover, the Electra model weighs 21 kg and has a capacity to carry up to 136 kg of useful load on board, including the weight of the cyclist.
The model is already available in the United States and also in Europe, priced at US$ 1,999.99, according to Electra’s website. In direct conversion, this amount is equivalent to R$ 10,4 thousand at the current exchange rate. A price a bit steep even abroad.
However, a major attraction is the lifetime warranty, present on all bicycles from the brand. For now, there is no expectation of launch in other markets.
How To Convert Any Bicycle To Electric?
Converters and conversion kits that can turn any regular bicycle into an electric one are increasingly available in the foreign market. However, some companies already officially sell this type of kit in the country.
The equipment with an electric motor is already a solution for cyclists looking to enjoy the benefits of electric bicycles without making large investments. Recently, the Chinese company CYC developed the Photon, a conversion kit that stands out for weighing only 3.2 kg, slightly less than its competitors.
Additionally, while other models do not deliver good performance, this model features a 750 W electric motor, along with a display that can be installed on the vehicle, controlled by a smartphone app that allows for adjustments.
The model is very compact; however, with the Photon, installation is a bit more complicated, as the battery, which can be either 36 V or 53 V, is not included with the product. Essentially, the Photon utilizes the current and replaces the mechanical part of the bicycle.
