The Proposal Must Provide Clean Energy to the Over 700,000 Bars, Restaurants, and Supermarkets Spread Across Brazil That Are Part of Ambev’s Distribution Network
Starting from innovation initiatives of large companies for the transformation of their business and/or development, Ambev, through its corporate venture Z-Tech, announced an investment in Lemon, a startup that facilitates the connection between clean energy generation and businesses using technology. The information was disclosed by the NeoFeed portal on Monday (05).

Lemon has developed an innovative way for businesses to consume sustainable energy. The idea is to bring this proposal to the over 700,000 bars, restaurants, and supermarkets spread across Brazil that are part of Ambev’s distribution network. This is the company’s fourth investment in the country.
According to Roberto Guido, CEO of Z-Tech in Brazil, they want to foster the ecosystem of small and medium businesses. “With Lemon, I have rarely seen such a strong alignment with what we want to build,” he said.

Created by AB InBev, owner of Ambev, Z-Tech acts as an innovation hub, whose mission is to digitize small retail and seek solutions to make them more efficient or reduce their costs. It is present in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil.
The amount from Z-Tech, the Ambev network, and Capitale Energia is the second that Lemon has received. The startup secured investments of $1 million in September 2019 to develop its clean energy projects.
Lemon’s Innovative Technology Allows for Clean Energy Provision Without the Need for Panel Installation
The Lemon connects clean energy plants, sourced from renewable sources like solar or wind, to the network of large distributors. This energy is converted into credits, which are deducted from the bills of the companies that are Lemon’s clients; in other words, it’s as if a company is renting solar panels to produce solar energy.

The startup aims to expand its projects due to the partnership with Ambev and the investment from Z-Tech. The plan is to finalize agreements with 10 energy distributors and begin offering its service in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso, and some states in the Northeast.
Currently, the Lemon startup has a capacity of 300 megawatts of clean energy, sufficient to serve 40,000 commercial establishments.
