Solar Power Plants in Piauí from Enel and Engie
The two solar power plants that received authorization this morning (14) have a total energy capacity of 96MW. Previously, Enel Green Power stated that it was working to expand one of its solar complexes in the near future, as the company aims to reach a total of 608MW in solar energy potential.
In total, Enel Green Power and Engie already have more than 60 solar projects on national soil, with a total solar energy potential of 3.7 GW when combining all renewable energy projects of the company. Finally, Engie previously closed a partnership with the renewable generation company BC Energia for the construction of seven solar photovoltaic plants.

The plants from Enel and Engie are intended for distributed generation and will be installed in the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais, and the Federal District. The plants will have an installed capacity of 10.8 MWp. Together, they will add 21 GWh/year to the installed energy generation capacity of BC Energia, which will reach 35.5 GWh in 2021 – equivalent to supplying 20,000 households.
Solar Energy in Brazil
The benefit of savings and the reduction of (possibly) nearly all costs on electricity bills is certainly the main advantage for all consumers who acquire a solar energy system in Brazil.
This is because, through the rules of self-generation, the consumer who installs a system has the option to connect it to the local distributor’s grid and start offsetting the generated energy against the energy consumed from it.
Thus, all the energy consumed in your house will come, directly or indirectly, from your system, allowing savings of up to 95% on the electricity bill.
